Sale Jr., 82, of Piqua, passed away at 9 p.m. Tuesday, April 6, 2004, in his residence. He was born on April 21, 1921, in Henderson, Ky., the son of the late Kirby S. and Earnie (Newman) Sale. He married Etta Margaret Poorman April 20, 1946, and she survives. He is also survived by three daughters and a son-in-law, Rebecca Klingler of Piqua, Dixie Kerns of Gatlinburg, Tenn., and Nancy and Tom Stofer of Owensboro, Ky.; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Kirby S. Sale III of Indianapolis and Jesse and Lori Sale of Botkins; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mildred Purk of St. Paris and Francis Irvin of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; a brother, Jim Sales of Sturgis, Ky.; and a special family friend, Donna Mathis of Piqua. In addition to his parents, Kirby was preceded by two brothers, Paul and Earl; a sister, Margaret Letner; and a half brother, Roy Penley. Kirby served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired in 1982 from Hartzell Industries of Piqua where he was a member of the Quarter Century Club. He was a member of Keith Cretors American Legion Post 148 of St. Paris. Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Friday in Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher. Funeral services will be held in the funeral home at 11 a.m. Saturday with Pastor Peter Doseck of the Only Believe Ministry of Botkins presiding. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery. Military services wil be held at the cemetery by Keith Cretors American Legion Post 148 of St. Paris.
