BilJ was born June 14, 1930, in Spencerville, Ohio, a son of the late Walter Carl and Freida (Neitermayer) Schindel. He married Phyllis Ann Vonderhuevel on April 7, 1957, in Port Jefferson. Together they raised five children, Karen Long of Piqua, Sandra (Scott) James of Piqua, Craig (Libby) Schindel of Conover, Melissa Schindel of Casstown, and Roderick Schindel of Conover. He was a loving grandfather to six grandchildren, Amanda (Zachary) Manson of Piqua, Ashley and Taylor James of Piqua, Tyler and Braden Schindel of Conover, Jamie Lee Schindel of Troy; and two great¬grandchildren, Lorelai and Cohen Manson. Bill is also survived by a brother, Thomas (Shirely) Schindel of West Liberty, and a sister-in-law, Marjorie Schindel of Phillipsburg, Ohio. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Schindel. A 1948 graduate of Spencerville High School, Bill went on to serve in the U.S. Air Force. He was a member of the Bethel United Methodist Church. He was employed for 30 years by Central Ohio Breeders Association and he was engaged in farming. Bill was a member of the American Legion Post No. 184 of Piqua and the Miami County Farm Bureau. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with the Rev. David Ramming of the Bethel United Methodist Church presiding. Chaplain Ed Ellis of Hospice of Miami County will assist. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery with military honors by the Veterans Elite Tribute Squad of Piqua.
