Harriett E. Slack, 81, formerly of 3760 W. State Route 185, Piqua, died at 
6:35 p.m., Monday, Sept. 15, 2003, in the Piqua Manor Nursing Home. She was 
born in Piqua on Dec. 17, 1921, to the late Charles and Mary Owen Baker. She 
married Perry W. Slack on Oct. 4,1939; he preceded her in death on April 
15,1991. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Karen and David Haines 
of Piqua; two sons and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Geri Slack of Mishawaka, 
Ind., and Frederick Slack of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren, 17 great-
grandchildren; a sister, Helen Knisley of Piqua; and a brother, Robert Baker 
of Florida. She was preceded in death by three brothers, five sisters and a 
great-grandson. Mrs. Slack was a high school graduate and retired from the 
Piqua Paper Box Co. as an assembler. She was a member of the former 
Evangelical United Methodist Church and former chapter of the Order of the 
Eastern Star No. 320. A funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, 
Sept. 18, in the Jamieson & Yannucci Funeral Home with the Rev. Pamela 
Linderson officiating. Burial will follow in Fletcher Cemetery.
