Slaybaugh, 87, of Fletcher, passed away at 11:30 p.m. Thursday, May 6, 2010, in Heartland of Piqua. Mildred was born Sept. 20, 1922, in Shelby County, a daughter of the late Josiah Mattison and Mary Catherine (Pitsenbarger) Large. She married Marvin "Bud" Slaybaugh on Sept. 10, 1949, and he preceded her in death on June 23, 1991. Mildred is survived by three children, Debbie Gomez of St. Paris, Donna (Bruce) Ruese of Troy and and David (Anne) Slaybaugh of Piqua. She was a loving grandmother to five grandchildren, Major Matthew (Shay) Gomez of Ft. Drum, N.Y., Aurora (Erich) Hopkins of Urbana, Jessica Gomez and fiance' Alex Gall of Ft. Collins, Colo., Rich (Terri) Slaybaugh of Piqua, and Heather Slaybaugh and fiance' Chris Kelly of Piqua; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Allison, Jaden, Kylie, and Quentin. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert and Leslie Large. Mildred was a 1940 graduate of Houston High School and a member of the Fletcher United Methodist Church. She retired in 1986 from Hobart Brothers, Troy. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main Street Fletcher with Chaplain Ed Ellis presiding.
