He was bom Jan. 21, 1939, in Piqua, the son of the late Herbert Eugene and Helen (Hughes) Tamplin. He married Alma Schulz on Jan. 29, 1960, and she survives. He also is survived by four daughters and three sons-in-law, Tammy and Jarel Swartz of West Milton, Sherri Curtis, Vicki and Dan Pierre and Debi and Brent Jackson, all of Piqua; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; a brother, Fred (Kay) Tamplin of Piqua; and two sisters, Carolyn Haney of Fletcher and Mary Ann (Harry) Wilson of Piqua. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Eugene Tamplin; and a sister, Linda Bodey. Ben served in the U.S. Navy and he was a truck driver for Piqua Transfer and Storage. He was a member of AmVets Post 88 of Troy, Eagles Aerie 614 of Piqua and the Troy Fish and Game Club. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with Chaplain Dave Snowden officiating.
