Janet E. Thayer, 85, formerly of Piqua, died Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at 11 :25 
p.m. in Alterra of Englewood.
She was born May 18, 1921, in Piqua, to the late Charles L. Jones and Mabel B. 
(Bryan) Jones Reed. She married William B. Thayer on Feb. 27, 1939, in 
Indiana. He preceded her in death Sept. 10, 1995.
Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Lavina Thayer of 
LaQuinta, Calif., C. William and Karleen Thayer of Beavercreek and Thomas and 
Carol Thayer of Englewood; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a 
sister, Nancy Ruffing of Dayton.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Clinton Jones, and two sisters, 
Onnalee Gage and Betty Pumphrey.
Mrs. Thayer was a graduate of Piqua Central High School and was a homemaker. 
She was a member of Greene Street United Methodist Church and the Piqua 
Country Club.
A graveside funeral service will be conducted at 1 1 a.m. Friday in Fletcher 
Cemetery with the Rev. James R. Christy officiating.
