R. Darwin Van Dine, 75, of Sidney, passed away at 5:57 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 3, 
2003, in Wilson Memorial Hospital. He was born in Shelby County on Sept. 29, 
1928, the son of the late Roy Daniel and Ethel Mae (Clevenger) Van Dine.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, the former Helen Ballou, who he 
married on March 4, 1950. He is also survived by two sons and daughters in 
law, James and Debra Van Dine of Sidney and Ronald and Debra Van Dine of 
Findlay; one daughter and son in law, Connie and Harold Stover of Piqua; seven 
grandchildren, Vicky (Keith) Wagner of Sidney, Annie (Ed) Link of Sidney, 
Jennifer (Robert) Gillen of Miamisburg, Amy Van Dine of Columbus, Greg and 
Daniel Edwards of Findlay and Dustin Stover of Piqua; and one great 
granddaughter, Mikayla Helman of Sidney. In addition to his parents, Darwin 
was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister.
Darwin was a 1947 graduate of Sidney High School. He was a farmer in Shelby 
County for more than 50 years.
Visitation will be from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, in Suber-Shively Funeral 
Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. 
Sunday, Dec. 7, in the funeral home. Burial will be in Fletcher Cemetery
