Born on July 3, 1941, he was a son of the late Donald and Ruth (Stephenson) Werts. He is survived by his wife, Janice (Laughman) whom he married on May 13, 1989, two sons, Richard (Rich) Werts and wife Vicki of Sidney and Jeffrey Widener and wife Terri of Texas; daughter-in-law, Tammi Werts of Arcanum; daughter Marty Bercot and son-in-law, Dwayne of Fletcher. His adopted family, Steve and Patty Springer and Kirby and Carolyn Lyons also survive him. He was a loving grandfather to Ian and Evan Werts, Samantha Clark, Dayna Harter, Daniel Werts, Melissa, Jason and Michelle Bercot, Peyton Widener, Andrea Lane and Amy Edger, Heather Smullenbarger and Kristy Lyons; and great-grandchildren, Ally Werts, Emmy Harter and Koltin Voisinet; four sisters, Bonnie (John) Ludwig of Washington, Jill (Sam) Sprouse, Jane Ann Pharris, both of California, and Donna (Dwight) Brewer of Sidney and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and other close friends and family survive. A very special family, Hershel and Leon Schultz, Patty Key and Martha Oliver also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Werts; a brother Dennis and a sister, Karen; grandson James Werts; and very special family, John and Ruby Schultz and their son Dale. Larry was raised on a farm and enjoyed the life of a farmer. He was a Fletcher Volunteer Fireman for 12 years. He graduated from Gettysburg High School Class of 1959, and retired from Fram of Greenville after 40 years of service. Larry also worked for Auctioneer Kirby Lyons and Bob Bayman. He enjoyed helping out at Poor Farmers Camp Ground, Fletcher. Memorial funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Friday in the Fletcher United Methodist Church, 205 W. Walnut Street, Fletcher with the Rev. Russ Tichenor presiding.
