Wilt, 89, formerly of Fletcher, passed away at 4:34 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 19, 2011, in Upper Valley Medical Center, Troy. She was born on July 19, 1921, in Miami County to the late Jerry and Emma (Elifritz) Plunkett. She married Hayes H. (Hamp) Wilt on Nov. 7, 1941, and he preceded her in death on July 4, 2004. She is survived by four children, Larry (Sharon) Wilt of Defiance, Bill (Linda) Wilt of Troy, Mike (Julia) Wilt of Kettering and Helen (Bruce) Ball of Troy. Betty was a grandmother to eight grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren, five step grandchildren, 22 step great-grandchildren and six step great-great-grandchildren. A brother Bernard "Bud" Plunkett of Fletcher and several nieces and nephews also survive. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by one daughter, Gloria Jean Ferrell; three grandchildren, Alan Ferrell, Shannon Gloria Wilt and Jerry Wilt; four brothers, Robert, Frank, Jesse and Millard Plunkett and three sisters, Mary Gustin, Alice Strong-Muckelroy and Jean Dock. Betty was a 1940 graduate of Brown Township High School. She worked for Copeland's in Sidney and Stouder Hospital in Troy. Betty was a member of the Spring Creek Baptist Church, Eastern Star 256 of Troy and the Joy Club of the Salvation Army in Piqua. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Suber-Shively Funeral Home, 201 W. Main St., Fletcher, with Pastor Fred Peterson of the Spring Creek Baptist Church presiding. Burial will follow in the Fletcher Cemetery. Visitation for family and friends will be held from 2-5 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
