Betty was born Aug. 7, 1921, in Troy, a daughter of the late In/in and Ruth (Sharits) Weaver. She married Harold L. Zimmerman on Feb. 14, 1940, and they enjoyed 68 years of wedded bliss, until Harold's passing on March 28, 2008. Betty is survived by four sons and three daughters-in-law, Dennis and Peggy Zimmerman of Jefferson City, Mo., William and Janel Zimmerman of Casstown, Kent Zimmerman of Piqua, and Barry and Jane Zimmerman of Live Oak, Fla.; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. One sister, Anna Leapley of Troy also survives Betty. In addition to her parents and husband, a sister, Juanita Weaver and a brother, Duane Weaver, preceded Betty in death. Betty was a member of the First United Church of Troy, and she attended the Fletcher United Methodist Church. She was a 1939 graduate of Troy High School. In 1979, she retired from Dolly Toy in Tipp City. She also worked as a short order cook for various places. Betty and Harold retired to Florida where they enjoyed the West Palm Beach area until returning to Piqua for the last few years. Betty loved playing cards, she loved to cook and she was always happy to be around people. A gathering of family and friends will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday in the Piqua Senior Apartments Party Room, 316 N. College St., Piqua. A memorial service will follow at 4 p.m. with the Rev. Russ Tichenor of the Fletcher United Methodist Church presiding.
