YATES, deceased Thomas Yates & Mary Yates, bond - administrators Will signed 2 Oct 1830; filed 15 Nov 1830 Jonathan L. Yates of Lost Creek Township, Co. of Miami, State of Ohio, being weak in body, but sound of mind, memory and understanding, bequeaths to beloved wife MARY - all my real & natural property and it is my will that she stay and have full power on the plantation on Lost Creek Township, and to have the rent, issues and profits thereof; that the family stay on the plantation and the minor children be well provided for "in raiment, meat and schooling" that "my only son THOMAS YATES" shall have all the above after the decease of my beloved wife MARY including all the plantations containing 170 acres "being a part of the North west quarter and also a part of the North East quarter of section thirty four, town two, range eleven between the Miami Rivers to my son THOMAS afore said thirty dollars a part of a judgement in court of common please in Clermont County of this state in my favor against Walter Thomas; also my mathematics books together with the life of Washington; also a roan horse colt; also my sword and gun unto him, his heirs and assigns forever that all my moneis [sic-monies], chattles and effects not other wise disposed of at the decease of my beloved wife MARY in manner as follows: one equal seventh part to my beloved daughter ANN, her heirs and assigns forver; one equal seventh part to my beloved daughter ELIZABETH, her heirs and assigns forever; [note from compiler: exactly the same wording & bequests for the following daughters] PRISCILLA; PHEBE; SOPHRONIA; REBECCA; and MARY. that the executors shall furnish each of my beloved daughters with a bureau or saddle as they become of age, with the exception of my beloved daughter ANN who has already been provided with one lastly, I nominate my beloved wife MARY together with my beloved son THOMAS YATES my executrix & executor.....hereby revoking making null and void all and every other will or wills Testament or testaments and hereby declaring this and no toher to be my last and Testament. signed by Jonathan L.
