"Quadrennial Enumerations consist of a census of males over twenty-one years of age residing in a county, showing address, race, occupation, and whether a freeholder of land. The enumerations were used to determine voting districts, and, as the name suggests, were taken every four years from 1803 to 1911. Prior to 1863, enumerations recorded only white males." The countries for which there are records at the Ohio Historical Center are Brown 1887-1891; 1903. Clinton, 1907; Columbiana, 1899-1903; Coshocton, 1883, 1891; Delaware, 1887; Fairfied, 1831; 1839; 1847-1851; 1859; Fayette 1887-1891; 1899; Gallia, 1899; Jefferson, 1883-1907; Lawrence, 1891-1807; Miami - 1827, 1837; Morrow - 1867; 1871-1883; 1891-1907; Perry, 1847-1871; 1879-1887; Pickaway, 1891-1903; Portage, 1831-1839; Shelby, 1819-1875; and Washington 1887-1911. "Quadrennial Enumerations emanate from the office of the County Auditor or the Clerk of the Court of Common Pleas. They are arranged within volumes by township and then alphabetically by inhabitant's name. Not all townships are represented for every county listed. Where a span of dates is indicated, the records exist for every fourth year therein. Quadrennial Enumerations at the Ohio Historical Society are in either microfilm or original form. The e-mail address for the Archives/Library Division is ohsref@winslo.ohio.gov. A check for $5.00 must be sent snail mail, identifying it to the e-mail request. Thought this might be of use to someone. Karin Goudy
