Residence at date of application July 3, 1818 Centre township, Monroe Co., Ohio. Enlisted in Flying Camp commanded by Capt. GOOD in State of Md.; then marched to Philadelphia, there joined Washington's Army, marched to N.Y.; was in battles of L.I., White Plains and Fort Washington, then returned to Philadelphia and discharged. Enlisted January 1777 in Pa. Line 16th regiment, 1st regiment of Congress' Fort Guards, Capt. George Aclebarger, Col. Hartley. Ensign under Gen. Putnam in November, 1779, and was in battles of Brandywine, Germantown and Stony Point. At the last battle he was wounded by a ball in his arm, which has never since been strong. Served until close of war. July 2, 1820, he sent a schedule of his property as follows: one mare....$40., 2 cows....24., 3 calfs...6., 1 yearling heiffer....4, 1 plough) 6 knives & forks) 6 spoons)....9., one table, chairs & etc.....5., 1 hoe....1. Total $89. His family consists of "wife BETSY aged 52 years, sick of the dropsy. Daughter MARTHA aged 19 out of his control. RACHEL aged 16 who can do some little work. BETSY aged 14 years. HANNAH aged 11 years. MATILDA aged 10 years, and an infirm child of RACHEL's named MARTHA. Occupation weaver but now unable to work.
