On the 30th day of July Ano Domina 1818 before me the subscriber one of the judges of the Court of Common Please in and for the county of Monroe and State aforesaid Personally Appeared WILLIAM McCLAIN Aged Sixty four Resident in the county and state aforesaid who being Duly sworn according to law Doth on His oath Make the following Declaration in order to obtain provisions Made by the Late act of congrefs intiteled an act to provide for certain persons Engaged in the Land and Navil Service of the United States in the Revolutionary War that he the said WILLIAM McCLAIN enlisted in the month of July 1776 in the flying camp company for 6 Months commanded by Capt. Good in the State of Mariland thence Marched to Philadelphia under the command of Col. sreharik theair joined Genaral Warshantons army thence marched to New York was in the battle of York Island, White Plains & Fort Washington marched to Philadelphia and Was theair Legally Discharged by Capt. Good. Second inlistment inlistment January 1777 During the War in the companey commanded by Capt. Ecelberger in the Pennsylvania Line in the 16 Ridgment in the congress foot gards commanded by Col. Hariley obtained an Ensign commission under General Putman in November 1779. Was in the battles of the ??le Brandewine, jermintown & Stoney Point at which battle I was wounded by a bowl in my arm which Never since has got sound and strong and continued in the service of the United States until Legally Discharged by Col. Hariley in Philadelphia at the end of the Revolutionary War and that he is reduced circomstances and stands in need of afsistance of his cuntry for support and by time and accidant his Discharge and is Lost and that he has now no other Evidence in his Power of his said survice sworn to and subscribed before Me the Day and year first above Ritten WILLIE McCLEIN I Do Hereby curtify that it Appeairs to My satisfaction that the aforesaid WILLIAM McCLAIN Did surve in the Revolutionary War as stated in the proceding declaration against the common Enemy for Nine Months and Longer as above stated in the contanental Establishment and from My own knowledg he is in Reduced curcomstances and stands in Need of Afsistance of his cuntry for support and I Now to ???mit the Proceedings and testimoney taken and had before me to the Secratary for the Department of War Persuant to the Directions of the aforementioned act of congrefs in testimoney Whereof I Heirunto set My hand and seal this 3th Day of July Ano Domina 1818 Levin Okey State of Ohio Monroe County} At the Court of Common Please A.P.1820 On this 22d day of July AD1820 personally appeared in open Court being a court of Record for said county WILLIAM McLAIN aged 67 years resident in Centre Township Monroe County Ohio who being first duly sworn according to law - doth on his oath declare that he Served in the Revolutionary War as follows - in the Company Commanded by Capt. George E????iberger in the 16th Regiment of the Pennsylvania Line Commanded by Col. Hartley being the first Regiment of the Congrefs foot Guards from the year 1775 to the year 1783; He has Received a pension Certificate from Government the date of which is the 6th day of September 1819 the date of his original declaration was the 3rd day of July A1818 the number of his Certificate 14-483 - And I do Solemnly Swear that I was a resident citizen of the United States on the 18th day of March AD1818 And that I have not since that time by gift sale or in any manner disposed of any property or any part thereof with intent thereby so to diminish it as to bring myself within the provisions of an act of congrefs entitled an act to provide for certain persons engaged in Land & Naval Service of the United States in Revolutionary War pafsed on the 18th day of March 1818; AD that I have not nor has any person in trust for me any property or Securities Contracts or debts due to me nor have I any income other than what is contained in the Schedule and by me subscribed - Schedule One Mare $40 one yearling heiffer $4 Two cows $25 one plough $9 thee Calfs $06 Six knives & forks Six spoons, one table $5 plane & one hoe $00150 $89- 50/100 The family of the declarant consists } of his wife BETSY aged 52 years Sick of} the dropsy; a Daughter MARTHA aged 19 years out of his control RACHEL aged 16 years who can do some little work BETSY aged 14 years HANNAH aged 11 years MATILDA 10 years of age & an infant child of RACHELs named MARTHA - His occupation has been that of a weaver but now unable to work; and his family unable to contribute but little to his support WILLIAM McLAIN Sworn and subscribed on the 22d day of July AD 1820 before Levin Okey presidine of Said Court ----------------------------------------------------- USGENWEB ARCHIVES NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free genealogical information on the Internet, data may be freely used for personal research and by non-commercial entities as long as this message remains on all copied material.
