Morrow in the Virginia line for six months from 1778 $20.00/100 Died 27 Feby 1837 Inscribed on the Roll of Ohio---------------- at the rate of 20. dollars 00. per annum. to commence on the 4th day of March 1831. 10 Certificate of pension issued the 19 day of April 1833 and sent to P.B. Palmer Clerk Book E Vol. 8 Page 132 JESSE WALLER REVOLUTIONARY WAR PENSION APPLICATION S. 4719 The State of Ohio On the 29th day of October A D 1832 Morgan County personally appeared in open court before the Judges of the Supreme Court of the State of Ohio Morgan County aforesaid Jesse Waller aged Seventy Three years and he being first duly Sworn according to law doth on his oath make the following declaration in order to obtain the benefit of the Act of Congress passed June 7th 1832. That he entered the Service of the United States under the following named officers and Served as Herein Stated he was drafted _______________into the service about the first of August A D 1778 Rendevouzing at Martinsburgh in Berkly County Verginia five companies of us under the command of Captains Worthington Lyle Sweringen Noble Ambrouse marching through Virginia crossed the Potomac river wading it about four miles below old town Just below the Junction of the North and South branch then to old town in Maryland and thence to Cumberland thence through to foot of Allegheny Mountain where Captain Noble and Lieutenant Garrison were broke at the same place Col. Morrow selected all those who had rifles in the five companies and formed them into one company calling them light infantry and placing them under the command of Captain Swearingen and left the others under the command of Captains Worthington Lyle and Ambrouse we then proceeded to the mouth of Big Beaver and there built a Fort and was there attached to the regulars calling the Fort McIntosh and after the Fort was built and nearly finished the main body of the army went to the Tuscarawas to build Fort Lawrence and my officers went with them their but I was left among some others to finish and take care of Fort McIntosh under the command of Colonel Campbell who was belonged to the regular Service I remained at Fort McIntosh to about first of February 1779 when my term of service having expired Col Campbell gave a written furlow so that I could________________ home as no person could travel at them times without one telling me that when I got home to give my furlow to my Captain I got home about last of February when I immediately took my furlow to my Captain who had got home before me who gave me a written discharge which I placed with my fathers papers which was the last that I recollect of seeing it I was living in Berkly County Virginia at the time I entered the service and after the war I returned there where I remained about five years from thence I removed to Hampshire County Virginia where I lived about ten years then I moved to Ohio County Virginia where I lived about two years and then I moved into the north western territory on Captina creek now Belmont County State of Ohio where I lived nine years when I moved to Wills creek in Guernsey County where I lived nine years longer when I moved to Olive green my present residence where I have lived about fifteen years Questions propounded by the Court Question 1st Where and in what year were you born Ans In Berkly county in the State of Virginia 1759 Question 2nd Have you any record of your age Ans no__any Question Where were you living when called into Service Where have you lived since the Revolutionary war and where do you now live Ans I was living in Berkly County Virginia my native county after I returned to Berkly co Va and from there I moved to Hampshire Co and from there to Ohio Co Va and from to Captina creek in the North Western territory now Belmont Co O. and from there to Wills creek in Guernsey Co and from there to my present residence in Morgan County Ohio Olive green township Question 4 How were you called into the service were you drafted did you volunteer or were you a substitute and if for whom Ans I was drafted Question 5 State the names of some of the Regular officers who were with the troops when you served such Continental and Militia Regiments as you can recollect and the general circumstance of your service. Ans Gen. Broadhead Gen. McIntosh Col Campbell and Captain Swearingen the Thirteenth Virginia regiment of regulars Major Scott Adjutant Carl and Quartermaster Lindar of Va Militia Question 6 Did you ever receive a discharge from the Service and if so from whom and what has become of it. Ans I left_______with my fathers papers and I know not what became of it I received one signed by Captain Worthington Question 7 State the names of persons to whom you are known in your present neighborhood and who can testify as to your character for veracity and good behaviour your services as a soldier of the Revolution Ans I am known to Jacob Jordan and William Oliphant-Esq. John Low and Elias W.
