To Johann Philip Ziegler and Anna (Schimt), both of Germany . Andrew more than likely grow up on his family’s farm 328 acres part of the Barrens of Jericho. Andrew was Christened Oct 29 1758. The Ziegler house a mansion was completed 1774 as the date stone reads. At age 16 ½ in 1775 Andrew got confirmed. He was last of many children. Before our progenitor was born his parents had a baby that died so they gave its name to Andrew too. The war started April 19 1775 , It must have been an exciting time for a young man. Andrew joined the York County Pennsylvania Militia as a member of Capt. Daniel Eyster’s company in service in the Jersey September 1776 to January 1777. In 1782 Andrew was a Corporal in Bott’s Company. Andrews mother died September 19 1783. After the American Revolution, on May 25 1785 Andrew bought a mill in Dover township. They sold it in 1795 for L2700 they owned it about ten years Then they bought land in Stranban township Adams County Pennsylvania for L1200 getting 330 acres . March 9 1795 bought 7 more acres. April 9 1794 Andrew Ziegler of Dover township York County Pennsylvania was a miller and his wife Mary sold 143 acres April 16 1795 miller133 acres Straban township. On April 8 1800 Andrews father Johann died and was buried at Wolf cemetery York County Pennsylvania. It appears the last of their Pennsylvania land is sold in Straban. The family came to Ohio likely by wagon on Zane’s trace. They settled in Muskingum Co. in Springfield township near present day county fair grounds. They are listed in the early settlers records. In 1807 Andrew is listed in Newton Township, in 1812 he received the land patent for the land that Smith had first settled. Section 23 north west quarter section. This is were Yost road makes a hard left turn (north). Cemetery is on the farthest north point, and can be seen for the Road. Andrew farmed here with his family many years. Andrew died here and is buried on his farm June 6 1839. He was twice married and has children from both . He first married Anna Maria Eisenhart . She was born 1768 June 18 in York County Pennsylvania. Anna died after 1812. Her children are: Margaret c1791, Mary Madeline c 1792, Jacob 1794, Baltser 12- 16-1796, Nicolas 6-6-1800, John 1802, Samuel 6-25-1807, George 8-29-1809, Daniel 10-2-1812. Elisabeth Hewitt was the second wife, Her children are David 6-29-1816, Andrew 9-26-1821, Abram 8-26-1828. These are all of the known children of Andrew Ziegler.
