Deed: Jacob Haines to Jesse Haines Know all men by these presents, that we Jacob Haines and Catharine his wife of Perry Township of the County of Muskingum and State of Ohio for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars lawful money of the United States to us paid in hand by Jesse Haines of said Township of the County of Muskingum and State aforesaid the weight of which we do hereby acknowledge and are therewith contented and satisfied, have given, granted, bargained, sold, aliened and conveyed, and by these presents do freely, fully and absolutely, give, grant, bargain, sell, alien, convey and confirm unto the said Jesse Haines and unto his heirs and assigns forever, a certain tract or parcel of land, situate in the Township, County and State aforesaid Beginning at the South East corner of the Northwest quarter of section twenty of Township one in range six running thence North fifty rod to a Stake, thence west twenty rod to a stake, thence North one hundred and ten rod to the section line, thence West one hundred rod to a stake, thence South twenty seven rod to a stake, thence East thirty rod to a stake, thence South one hundred and thirty three rod to Philip Richcreek’s line thence East ninety rod to the place of beginning, containing eighty one acres with all and singular the improvements, heriditaments, benefits, rents, issues and profits therefrom arising with all the privileges thereto belonging, or in any wise appertaining to him the said Jesse Haines his heirs and assigns forever,to his heirs and their own proper use, benefit and behoof forever as a good, perfect and absolute estate in fee simple. And we the said Jacob Haines and Catharine his wife for ourselves, our heirs, executors and administrators, do covenant with the said Jesse Haines and his heirs and assigns, that before and until the sealing and delivery of these presents that we lawfully seized in fee of the above granted and bargained premises and appurtenances, that we have good right, full power and lawful authority in it to sell and and convey the same to the said Jesse Haines and his heirs and assigns that the said premises are free from all former gifts, grants, or other incumbrances whatever, and that we do and will warrant, secure and defend the same to Jesse Haines his heirs and assigns forever against the lawful claims or demands of all and every persons whomsoever. In witness whereof we hereunto set our han—and seal—the twenty second day of October A.D. eighteen hundred and twenty two and the fortyseventh year of the Independence of the United States of America. Jacob Haines her Catherine X Haines mark Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of: Richard Hogan Isaac Haines The State of Ohio Muskingum County seal Personally appeared before me, Richard Hogan, one of the Justices of the Peace in and for Muskingum County, Jacob Haines and Catharine his wife the within named grant in the within deed of conveyance, and the said Catharine Haines being by me examined separate and apart from Jacob Hains her husband, she freely acknowledged she signed away her right of dower of her own free will and accord. Also they both acknowledged the within conveyance their act and deed to answer the purpose fully of vesting the right and title of the within specified eighty one acres in the within named Jesse Haines, his heirs and assigns forever and they do hereby order the written conveyance to be entered on the record of Muskingum County.
