On this tenth day of May A.D. one thousand eight hundred and seventy-eight, personally appeared.....SARAH ZEIGLER, aged 81 years, a resident of Deavertown, Morgan Co in the State of Ohio who being duly sworn...declares that she is the widow of WILLIAM McLAIN deceased, who was the identical WILLIAM McLAIN who served under the name of WILLIAM McLAIN as a private in the Company commanded by Captain Sanderson in the 27th Regiment of Infantry, commanded by Colonel Paul? in the war of 1812; that her said husband enlisted at Fairfield Co. Ohio on or about the 16th day of Dec A.D. 1813 for the term of one year and whose services terminated by reason of discharge at fort Shelby on the 16th of Jan A.D. 1814. She further states that the following is a full description of her said husband at the time of his enlistment, viz: five feet 8 inches high brown hair blue eyes light complexion.
