Archer, 55, died suddenly at 5:45 Tuesday evening at his home at Dillon Falls. He had suffered a cerebral hemorrhage an hour before. Mr. Archer had been district commercial manager for the Natural Gas and Oil Co. for 22 years and had been a resident of Zanesville for 28 years. Born in Macksburg, Washington County, he was the son of George W. and Adda Glidden Archer. The deceased was active in the early development of the Muskingum Watershed Conservancy District and at one time served on the board of appraisers in the appraisal of lands to be acquired by the district in construction of the watershed lakes. He served as assistant secretary of the local Chamber of Commerce while Bryce C. Browning, at that time, secretary was engaged in forming the district. Mr. Archer was also a member of the Ohio Friends of Lands and was the first president of Friends of Lands organized in Muskingum county more than a year ago. He was chairman of the Muskingum county ration board during World War II and was an official of the Zanesville baseball club. Mr. Archer was a member of the McConnelsville Methodist Church, Valley lodge 111, University club, Zanesville Country Club, Chamber of Commerce, American Legion Post 29 and the Forty and Eight. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Amanda Howell Archer; three daughters, Mrs. Wallace Hartman of Duncan Falls, Mrs. Karl Struz of 166 Beulah avenue and Mrs. Edwin Norman of 704 Merrick avenue; five grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. G. W. Archer of Columbus. A brother, Maurice Archer is deceased. The body was removed to the Hearing-Bryan DeLong funeral home. Burial will be in McConnelsville.
