He had been in failing health for several months. He was born June 26, 1916 in Spratt and was the son of the late John and Rosa Bell Howell Dawson. Dawson spent most of his life in the Zanesville area and was an employee of Brockway Galss for 31 years working in the hot end. He was a member of pleasant Grove United Methodist Church and was a veteran of World War II with the Eighth Air Force. Surviving are his widow, Lilliam Jolly Dawson whom he married March 11,. 1945; a daughter, Mrs. Judy Starkey of 145 Jackson Road; a son Eugene Dawson of the home; a sister, Miss Anna Mae Dawson of 47 North Fifth Street; two brothers, Marion Dawson of Fern Hill Road and John DAwson of 3804 Chandlersville Road. He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice and a brother, William. The body was taken to the Bolin Funeral Home on Blue Avenue, where friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today and Sunday. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday in the chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Allan Teter officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
