Cumberland--Bernice June Dawson, 87, of Cumberland died at 4:05 a.m. Friday, 
April 3, 2009 at the Muskingum County home.  She was born August 6, 1921, in 
Rich Hill Township, Muskingum County, a daughter of the late Carl W. and Lisa 
Okey Elloitt.  She retired after twenty years as a teacher at pleasant Grove, 
Perry Elementary and as a science teacher at East Muskingum Middle School.

Bernice was a member of the Rix Mills Presbyterian Church since August 10, 
1930, the Rich hill Grange, was a 4-H Advisor, former school bus driver, 
former seantress for Mee's Draperies, demonstrated soap making at local 
festivals, was co-originator and advisor at sixth grade camp, began the nature 
trail at E. M. M. S., was an angus breeder following her father's tradition 
that began in 1909, and was an avid white water rafting enthusiast.

She is survives by a daughter, Cay (Buddy) Larrison, Cumberland; sons, Myron 
(Sharon) Dawson, New Concord, Logan (Vicki) Dawson and Clayton (Debbie) 
Dawson, both of Cumberland; son-in-law John Huhn, Cumberland; grandchildren, 
Landy Bauserman, Barry Bauserman, Ted (Pam) Huhn, Tammy Huhn, Troy Janeen) 
Dawson, Cam (Linda) Dawson, Staci (Ed) Edwards, Natalie (Aaron) Schaad, Laura 
(Jerry) Blackwood, Sarah Dawson and William DAwson; great-grandchildren, Tawny 
(Chad) Pletcher, Erin (Anthony) Jackson, Alyssa Bauserman, Dalton Huhn, Jackie 
Huhn, Levi Huhn, Brianna Dawson, Janessa Dawson, Clair Dawson, Liam Dawson, 
Tori Edwards, Ethan Edwards, Isaac Edwards, Brady Schaad, Jack Schaad and 
great-great-granddaughter, Dahlia Jackson.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William H. Dawson on September 20, 
1964; a daughter, Jackie Huhn, infant son, David Dawson and brothers, Burdette 
Elliott and Raymond Elliott.

Visitation will be from 1-3 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at the Rix Mills 
Presbyterian Church with a memorial service at 3 p.m. with Pastors, Jim Gibson 
and Pastor Tom Hayes officiating.

Burial will be provate for the family in Cumberland Cemetery.
