Died at his residence of palsy, in Union twp., Muskingum county, Ohio, October 30th,
1861, Joseph S. Ferguson, in the 80th year of his age. Mr. F. was the nephew of the
Rev. Joseph Smith, the well known Gospel pioneer of Western Pennsylvania and the
father of Rev. W. M. Ferguson, of Washington, Ohio. Soon after his marriage with
Miss Elizabeth M’Cluskey, he emigrated from Western Pennsylvania to Ohio, then a
wilderness, and settled on a farm…
