The Zanesville Times Recorder August 15, 1900
Alfred Howell, a venerable and highly respected resident of this place, died
Saturday at the home of his son, M. C. Howell.  The deceased was 96 years of
age, being the oldest man in the township at the time of his death.  The funeral
services were held from the Mt. Zion Church, Monday at 10 o'clock.  Rev. Ross of
Cumberland officiating.  Interment at Mt. Zion Cemetery.
