He spent his life on the farm on which he was born. His life was, therefore, that of an industrious and skillful tiller of the soil. As a citizen, he took great interest in public affairs of which he kept himself well informed. His private life and character were above reproach. He was firm in his conviction of right as between man and man. Any person in need always found Mr. Luman a ready and real helper. His religious convictions were always tied up with the Methodist church and was it strong supporter. Mr. Luman is the last of a large family all of whom preceded him to the spirit land many years ago. His parents departed this life when he was about 15 years old. There were four brothers: James, George, Asbury, and John; and four sisters: Francis, Ellen, Rebecca and Amanda. All the children lived to maturity. Mr Luman held offices of public trust and always preformed those duties to the satisfaction of his neighbors and friends. He was married to Elizabeth Harrop, March 4, 1875. To this union were born nine children, five sons and four daughters. Annah Leota who preceded him to the spirit world at the age of 18 years 6 months and four days. Those left to mourn his los are his faithful wife, sons and daughters, Rufus and Clara of Roseville, Everett and Montford of Anita, Iowa, Mary and Normal of Zanesville, Nellie of Philo, and Albert of the home. There are also 15 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. These are all members of prosperous families.
