Parsons aged 83, one of the best known and most highly respected residents of Zanesville died at his home, 235 Clifford Avenue at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon following a lingering illness from a complication of diseases. He had been a resident of this city practically his entire life. Mr. Parsons will best be remembered as a clerk at the old Grand dry good store, Fourth and Main streets, but for many years his activities extended into other fields. He was highly educated along several lines with an extensive knowledge of music and his comments in local newspapers on musical entertainments carried authority. For a number of years he was offical critic for the old Schultz theater. Mr. Parsons took a deep interest in Zanesville history and wrote many biographies and reminiscent sketches for local newspapers which not only preserved local history but which were replete with wit and humor. Had ill health not checked his activities these contributions to Zanesville's history woulld doubtless been greatly extended. Although he had been ill for several years his physical ills did not do away with his deep and constant interest in the city's present, as well as past. He was a daily reader of the Signal and was a frequent contributor to its "Do You Remember" column. Mr. Parsons is survived by two sisters and one brorther, the Misses Maria and Margaret Parsons of the home and Professor Richard Parsons of Delaware, OH. Additional Comments: Robert D. Parsons was the son of Richard Parsons and Margaret (Payne) Parsons. He emigrated with his parents to Zanesville, OH in October 1848 from Tullamore, Ireland File at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/oh/muskingum/obits/parsons791ob.txt This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/ohfiles/ File size: 2.2 Kb
