Radcliffe, 46, of 1281 Henry street, opertor of the Adamsville Feed and Hardward Store, took his own life at 5:31 p.m. Wednesday by shooting himself in the head with a 12 guage shotgun in the office of the feed store, the Muskingum county Sheriff's office reported. He had reportedly been dispondent because of ill health. Mr. Radcliffe was born in Muskingum County, March 13, 1925, a son of Paul D. Radcliffe and Alice Bell Shirer. He spent most of his life in the Adamsville vicinity and had operated the feed store for the past seven years. He married Gloria Jean Oliver in December 1945. He attemded Euclid Avenue United Methodist Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Adamsville and was a navy veteran of the Pacific theater in World War II. Surviving are his widow, his mother, Mrs. Ralph (Alice) Shirer of Adamsville; three sons, Perry of the home, Jerry of 625 Pleasant Grove road and LArry of Route 4; a brother, Donald Radcliffe and a half-brother, Homer Ralph Shirer, both of near Adamsville and three grandchildren. The body was taken to the Shirer and Son Funeral Home at Adamsville where friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today. Private services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Lewis Thompson officiating. Private burial will be in the New Hope Cemetery near Adamsville. Hubbard Lodge F&AM will conduct MAsonic services at 6:30 p.m. today at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Dallas Moore, Wilmer Shrier, George Thompson, Gerald Prouty, John Daniel and Ernest Walker.
