To remove Tan VC. (sic)

1 cake Brown Windsor Soap scrape to fine powder & add Eau de Calonge* 1oz.
mix well & form into cakes. this will answer the double purpose of removing
tan, & preventing hands from chapping-. It also makes the skin soft & white.
*N>B> ZI (sic) Lemon juice must be added to the above colnge.

Gazette.

Hydrate of chloral - the new anesthetic discovered by Dr. Leibricht, of
Berlin, last summer rapidly coming into favor with the profession. A paper
was read by Dr. Jacoby before the N York Med. Society on Monday evening with
strong testimony to its merits. It said that the chloral produced
insensibility when the most powerful narcotics failed inducing long, peaceful
& refreshing sleep, without nausea or sickness of any kind, & exhibiting
marked superiority over chloroform or ether. Given with water mucilage or
orange peal it was a pleasant medicine, which children would take with a
relish.

Hsave read - apparently on good authority - that timber cut in the month of
February will last 3 times as long as timber cut in the summer months.

     Much respected friend
          The favor embracing the life of Martin Luther & others prominent as
leaders in the reformation and combating the errors of Popery was read with 
much interest. It would been proper I should have returned these volumns in
persona propria instead of sending them as I did by bro. Myers. At that time
tho not to say sick, had been quite under the weather under the effects of
indisposition consequent upon the inclemency of the weather changing from
winter to spring.

     To any Constable of Clark County greeting: Whereas, complaint has been
made
before me, one of the Justices of the peace in and for the county of
_________, upon the oath of Henry Donnel that David Ewing late of the County
aforesaid did, on or about the 8th day of March A-D 1849 at the County of
Clark, did assault strick also maltreat Henry Donnel of the County of Clark
Bethel Township.
     These are therefor to command to take said David Ewing if he be found in
your county, or if he shall have fled that you pursue after the Said David
Ewing into any other County in the State, and take & safely keep the Said
David Ewing so that yu have his body forth with before me or some other
Justice, to answer the Said Complaint, & he further dealt with according to
law
