Joseph a resident of Rappsbourg, County of Lawrence, State of Ohio who being by me duly sworn to law, on his solemn oath, deposes as follows, to wit: I am the identical James W. Joseph who was enrolled on the 31st day of December 1863 in Company D of the 92nd Regiment of Ohio Inf transferred to 31st O.V.D. commanded by Captain Wheeler and I was honorably discharged at near Louisville Ky on the 20th day of July 1885 and my age is now forty three (43) years. While in the service aforesaid, and in the line of my duty at Chattanooga State of Tennessee on or about the last of Jan. or first of Feb. 1864, I incurred Contracted the measles and resulting bronchitis and catarrh of head. At Chattanooga, Tenn about Jany or Feby 1864 I contracted chronic diarrhrea resulting disease of rectum while on the march from Atlanta Ga. to the sea on or about summer of 1864., I also contracted rheumatism caused by exposure and hardships incident to the service. That I was treated in hospitals as follows: Field hospital at Chattanooga and Nashville, Tenn. That since leaving the service I have resided in the counties of Washington and Lawrence in the State of Ohio and that my occupation has been that of a farmer That prior to my entry into the service above-named I was a man of good, sound physical health, being when enrolled a farmer. That I am now partially disabled from obtaining my subsistence by manual labor by reason of my disabilities above described, received in the service of the United States; and I therefore make this declaration for the purpose of being placed on the invalid pension roll of the United States.
