Obituary---NOBLE COUNTY LEADER, February 24, 1926, Caldwell, OH: "Mrs. Herman Sayre (Mary Delilah), aged fifty-two years, one of Caldwell's most highly esteemed women and a member of the Caldwell Methodist Episcopal Church and of the Loyal Gleaners Sunday School Class and also of the Eastern Star Lodge, died at her home on West North Street, Wednesday morning of last week following a prolonged illness from complications. She is survived by her husband, two step-daughters, Mrs. L.E. Guffey, of Youngstown, Ohio, and Mrs. Mancil McFarland, of Brewster, Ohio, and the following brothers and sisters: Frank Keller, of Mt. Zion, John Keller, of Senecaville, Mrs. Hester Shafer and Mrs. Margaret Gibson, of near Mt. Ephraim, and Mrs. Belle Conner, of Cumberland. Mrs. Sayre was born and reared in the vicinity of Mt. Ephraim and was a daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. Keller. Short funeral services were held at the home Thursday afternoon at four o'clock and on Friday morning the body was taken to Mt. Ephraim where further services were held in the M. E. Church, conducted by Rev. H.W. Peterson. Interment was made in the Mt. Ephraim Cemetery." The Ohio Historical Society's Death Certificate Index shows a Mary D. Sayre, died 2-17-1926 in Noble Co., OH, cert. #11,436. Mt. Ephraim Cemetery shows Delilah Sayre buried in 1926 with the Levi Keller family. The obituary for Mrs. Herman Sayer is dated 2-24-1926.
