Charlie J. Greene
   Charlie J. Greene, 96, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, March 22, 1998, at Highland 
District Hospital.
   He was born Jan. 19, 1902, near Peebles, the son of Hamer and Pearl (Black) 
Greene.
   He was a member of the First Church of God.
   He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Betty Greene of Casey, 
Ill., and Dean and Jane Greene of Hillsboro; daughters and sons-in-law, Margene 
Porter of Hillsboro, Winona (William) Storer of Hillsboro and Phyllis and Paul 
Ross of Greenfield; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, one great-
grandchild and one sister, Laura Stephenson of Peebles.
   In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Bertha Lea 
(Harris) Greene, on Oct. 20, 1989; four brothers, Homer, Robert, Thomas and Sam 
Greene; and two sisters, Agnes Wisecup and Mildred Markins.
   Services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in 
Hillsboro.
   The Rev. John Maggard will officiate. Burial will follow in the Resthaven 
Memory Garden. Friends may call on Wednesday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
