Sara Katherine (Kate) Shoemaker
   Sara Katherine Shoemaker, 79, of Hillsboro, died Friday, May 8, 1998, at 
Highland District Hospital.
   She was born Oct. 9, 1918, in Highland County, the daughter of the late James 
and Flora (Hammond) VanPelt.
   Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Donald "Tag" 
Shoemaker on April 9, 1998; two sons, Russell Eugene Shoemaker and James Ashton 
Shoemaker; a daughter, Jane Agnes Shoemaker; four brothers and five sisters.
   She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Ronnie Lee (Butch) and Violet 
Shoemaker of Hillsboro; a daughter, Deloris E. Shoemaker of Hillsboro; daughter 
and son-in-law, Shirley J. and James Herphant of Xenia; daughter-in-law Kitty 
Shoemaker of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren, William Herphant, Jermey, Jessica, 
and Andrew Shoemaker, Paul and Jill Shoemaker, Donna Shoemaker, and Stephanie 
Harris; and four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Melissa, Sherria, and Zachary 
Harris.
   Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at the Wylie-Thompson 
Funeral Home in Sinking Spring. The Rev. Philip Fulton will officiate. Burial 
will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery. Friends may call Monday, 5 to 9 p.m. 
at the funeral home.
