Shoemaker, 87, of Washington Court House, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at his residence. He was born May 27, 1911, in Yatesville, Ohio, to Charles and Mary Ellen (Kile) Shoemaker. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Shoemaker in 1995 whom he had married on September 1, 1938. He was also preceded in death by six brothers, Paul, Richard, Cecil, Jack, Guy, and Gene Shoemaker, and by one sister, Madaline Townsley. Mr. Shoemaker is survived by four daughters, Bonnie (Mike) Taylor of Washington Court House; Jamie (James) Teeters of New Holland; Shirley (Ronald) Caldwell of Leesburg; Mary Belle Cockerill of Greenfield; and one brother and sister-in-law, Joseph (Gladys) Shoemaker of Washington Court House. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Jimmy and Heidi Taylor and Garel Armintrout of Washington Court House; Janell Teeters Mead of Eagan, Minn.; Gary Cockell of Sabina; Amy Lamb, J.M. Caldwell, and Angela, Ann, and Andy Caldwell of Leesburg; six great-grandchildren, Justin Armintrout, Megan, Maura, Mason, and Madison Cockerill and Keith Lamb; seven sisters-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, served 12 years as a city council member, served 27 years as a member of Washington Lions Club, and was a member of the Elk Lodge 129. Mr. Shoemaker owned and operated Shoemaker Electric Service of 34 years, having retired in 1972. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 2, 1998 at 1:30 p.m. in the Wellman-Kinzer Funeral Home in Washington Court House. The Rev. Dr. Darrell Holmes of the First Presbyterian Church will be officiating. Burial will follow in the Washington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, June 1, 1998 from 4 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Presbyterian Church.
