Dean W. Simmons
   Dean W. Simmons, 87, of Greenfield, died Monday, March 16, 1998, at 
Greenfield Area Medical Center.
   Born Dec. 31, 1910, in East Monroe, he was the son of Elbert J. and Mary 
Effie (Leach) Simmons.
   He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Mae King, on March 7.
   He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Faith Ann Simmons of 
Port Charlotte, Fla.; daughter and son-in-law, Joann and Richard Higgins of 
Bainbridge; grandchildren and spouses, Mike and Etta Higgins of Chilicothe, Tom 
and David Simmons, both of Port Charlotte, Fla., Roger Duane and Susan Simmons 
of Georgia and Missy and Shawn Skaggs of Bainbridge; three great-grandsons, two 
great-granddaughters and special friends, Jim and Carol Ogden of Hillsboro.
   He was also preceded in death by two sons, two brothers and three sisters.
   Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Thursday at Anderson-Strueve Funeral Home, 
Greenfield, with Steve Henderson officiating.
   Burial will follow in the Walnut Creek Cemetery, Fayette County. Friends may 
call at the funeral home 5-8 p.m. Wednesday.
   Memorial contributions are suggested to Greenfield Area Life Squad or the 
charity of one's choice.
