Mason kkmason@shianet.org April 15, 2000 *********************************************************************** Unknown newspaper April 28, 1998 Retha Vance Retha Vance, 93, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Hillsboro, died Sunday, April 26, 1998, in Arizona. Retha, the second oldest of Julia Bull's seven children, was born on Oct. 29, 1904, in a log cabin built by her father, Albert Bull in Braxton County, W. Va. In 1917, the Bull family moved to a farm near Hillsboro on the Willettsville Pike. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Julia (Taylor) Bull; husband, Loren Vance, Sr., on Sept. 27, 1995; one brother, Wilton Bull; and three sisters, Gracie Coates, Garnett Eads and Murial Moudy. She is survived by her son, Loren Vance, Jr.; two brothers, Ward and Wilber Bull; grandsons, Donald and David Vance; and four great-grandchildren, Danielle, Sabrina, Chris and Kyle. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Hope Miller- Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Larry Stewart officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday from 5 till 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
