Hunter, 78, of Hillsboro (Marshall community) passed away Friday, May 15, 1998. He was born on November 3, 1919 in Highland County, the son of Lowell and Faye M. (Cummings) Hunter. He was a member of the Marshall United Methodist Church. He was the owner of Hunter Meats for over 60 years and was a farmer and a World War II veteran. He was a member of Highland Lodge #38 F and AM, Hillsboro Chapter #40 Royal Arch Masons, Hillsboro Council #16 Royal and Select Masons, Highland Commandery #31 Knights Templar, 32 degree Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite, Shrine Aladdin Temple Columbus, and Hillsboro Chapter #441 Order of Eastern Star. He was preceded in death by his parents, and three brothers, Daryl, Charles and Leon Hunter. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty (Dobbs) Hunter; two daughters and sons-in-law Kim and Trent Allen and Karen and Tim Sheeley, all of Hillsboro; grandchildren, Kelsey and Hunter Sheeley, Halee Allen; and step-grandson Troy Allen and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 18, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Hope Miller- Thompson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Janie Shoemaker officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery, with military graveside service from the Highland County Honor Guard. Friends may call on Sunday from 4-8 p.m. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home. A Scottish Rite Ring Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to the Marshall United Methodist Church in care of Gloria Flannery, 11398 State Route 506, Hillsboro, 45133.
