Newkirk, 82, of Columbus, Ohio, formerly of Lynchburg, died Saturday, June 13, 1998 at the Clinton Memorial Hospital in Wilmington. He was born Dec. 17, 1915 in Pricetown, Ohio, the son of William Carey and Sitha (Scott) Newkirk. Mr. Newkirk had retired after 45 years of service as a tool and die maker with the Irwin Auger Bit Company. He is survived by five sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Sandra Newkirk of Pennsylvania, William and Rebecca Newkirk of Lynchburg, Donald and Linda Newkirk of Westboro, Kenneth and Sandy Newkirk of Martinsville, Timothy and Maria Newkirk of Goshen; three daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Mike Clement of Sabina, Pam and David Criss of Sidney, and Robin Wilkin of Fayetteville; 19 grandchildren; 29 great- grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by his wife, Beatrice O. (Collins) Newkirk on Sept. 17, 1989, and three grandchildren. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 16, at the Turner and Son Funeral Home of Hillsboro. Jeff Collins will officiate. Burial will follow in the Westboro Cemetery. Friends may call today, June 15, from 6 until 9 p.m. at the funeral home in Hillsboro. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 937 N.
