Cumberland, 84, of Hillsboro and formerly of Sardinia, died Thursday, May 7, 1998, at the home of his son, Wilbert Kenneth Cumberland, in Hillsboro. Mr. Cumberland was an Army veteran of World War II and was retired from the Blanchester Foundry where he had been a molder for many years. Three other sons survive, Carl Wendall and Dennis Lee Cumberland of Hillsboro and Timothy Woodrow Cumberland of Powder Springs, Ga.; five daughters, Rhoena Jean Watkins of Wilmington, Monna Mary Cumberland, Marilyn J. Williams and Velma Mae Cumberland, all of Hillsboro, and Sandra Kay Kinffley of Columbus; four brothers, James, John and Stanley of Hillsboro and George of Chilicothe; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Woodrow Willie Cumberland; three sisters, Augusta Williams, Ellen Kittrell and Mae Marie Williams; and by two brothers, Clifford and Wayne Cumberland. Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 11, at 2 p.m. at the Turner & Son Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m.
