Marshall, 84, of Grove City, died Saturday, March 21, 1998, at Grant Medical Center in Columbus. He was born Aug. 20, 1913, in Celt, Va., the son of George E. and Mary (Haney) Marshall. He had retired after 22 years as a U.S. Navy Chief and also retired after 20 years as a truck driver. He was a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Grove City, a member of Fleet Reserve Branch 199 and a member of the Teamsters Local 413. He is survived by his wife, Hilda (Huffner) Marshall, whom he had married on Oct. 4, 1940; one son and daughter-in-law, Claude Patrick "Pat" and Carla Marshall of Lancaster; one daughter and son-in-law, Rita Angela and Roger Jones of Rockbridge; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, George Marshall of Franklin, Mass.; and one sister, Elsie Marsh of Charlottesville, Va. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the St. Martin Catholic Church in St. Martin. The Rev. Mike Savino will celebrate the Mass. Burial, with military honors being rendered by the U.S. Navy and the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the St. Martin Cemeteyr. Friends may call on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until time of Mass at the Parish Hall of St. Martin Church. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society. The Davis- Turner Funeral Home in Lynchburg is serving the family.
