McGrew, 66, of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, June 9, 1998, at his home. He was born on Nov. 22, 131, in Dayton, the son of Lonnie and Lucy (Boosinger) McGrew both of whom have preceded him in death. He was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, an Army veteran of the Korean War where he received a Purple Heart for wounds received in action, the Korean Service Medal with three bronze stars, he was a member of VFW Post 9094 and the DAV, Highland County Senior Citizens and UAW Local 696. He was retired from Delco- Moraine where he had been employee as a tool and die maker. His survivors include his wife, Linda (Lare) McGrew, to whom he was married on Aug. 4, 1956; three daughters, Joyce (Rich) Rammel, Pattie (Chuck) Sanders and Shelly McGrew, all of Hillsboro, and Robin (James) Knisley of East Monroe; one son, Lonnie (Denise) McGrew of Bloomington; nine grandchildren; a sister, Carolyn (Stanley) Simms, and a brother, Danny (Dottie) McGrew, all of Jamestown; and by several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at the Highland County Senior Citizens Building where Russ Dunham, Keith Short and Jeff Johnson will be co-officiating. Cremation will follow the service and his cremains will be interred in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the Senior Citizens Center on Muntz Street in Hillsboro on Saturday from 11 a.m. until service time at 2 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Highland County Senior Citizens or Hospice of Highland County. The Turner & Son Funeral Home of Hillsboro is serving the family.
