Mason kkmason@shianet.org May 18, 2000 *********************************************************************** Times-Gazette June 15, 1998 Laura Murray Laura Murray, 96, of Hillsboro, died Friday, June 12, 1998, at the Crestwood Nursing Center. She was born in Highland County on Oct. 11, 1901, the daughter of Henry J. and Amanda (Rhoads) Chaplin. She was a member of the Sugar Tree Ridge United Methodist Church and in later years attended the Sugar Tree Ridge Church of Christ. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Murray in 1978; one daughter, Barbara (Murray) Leslie; one son-in-law, Tom Butler; one brother, Elmer Chaplin; one sister, Lillian Young; and six grandchildren. She is survived by two sons, Russell (Charlotte) Murray Jr. of Lynchburg and Miles Murray of Dade City, Fla.; four daughters, Mary Lois Butler of Hillsboro, Eunice (Orval) Hawkins of Mowrystown, Esther (Cecil) Storer of Hillsboro, and Noel Ann (C.J.) Moore of Sabina; one son-in-law, Bruce Leslie; two brothers, Lowell Chaplin of Xenia and Guy Chaplin of New York; two sisters, Blanche Griffith and Marjorie Brown, both of Dayton; 30 grandchildren; 67 great-grandchildren; 32 great-great-grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 16 at 2 p.m. at the Hope Miller- Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Jake Copley officiating. Burial will follow in the Sugar Tree Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call on today, June 15, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the Sugar Tree Ridge Church of Christ, 2240 state Route 136, Hillsboro.
