Runyon, 61, of Hillsboro, died Monday, March 16, 1998, in Hillsboro. He was born May 6, 1936, in Hillsboro, the son of Robert and Nettie (Craft) Runyon. He was a retired civil service employee from the former Clinton County Air Force Base. He was a member of the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church, a U.S Marine Veteran of the Korean Conflict, a member of the AmVets Post 61 and a member of the Hillsboro Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 1161. He is survived by his wife, Alice (Nesbit) Runyon, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1973; his mother, Nettie (Craft) Runyon of Hillsboro; one son, Wolfgang Runyon of Hillsboro; one daughter, Tawnya Whitney of Ormand Beach, Fla.; three brothers, Richard (Dick) Runyon of Leesburg, Robert (Bob) Runyon of South Salem and Leonard Runyon of Washington C.H.; two sisters, Alice Henson of Hillsboro and Beverly Matthews of California; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Samantha Free Will Baptist Church. Rev. Wiley Perkins will officiate. Burial, with military honors being rendered by the Highland County Honor Guard, will follow in the Resthaven Memory Garden. Friends may call on Thursday from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the church.
