David Batson, 58, of Hillsboro, died Sunday, May 24, 1998, at Wright Patterson Medical Center. Born Sept. 10, 1939, in Cincinnati, he was the son of Ralph Louis Batson and Gladys (Carr) Batson. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Patty (Johnson) Batson; two sons, David Michael Batson of Kettering and Kevin Scott Batson of Centerville; step-son, Michael Edward (Tamiette) Walls of Japan; two daughters, Christine Marie (Mark David) Kelly of Kettering and Shonda Lynette Moore of Wilmington; brother, Michael (Priscilla) Batson of Wilmington; several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews and nine grandchildren. He was a lifetime member of the Hillsboro VFW #9094, lifetime member of Hillsboro Amvets, member of Hillsboro Eagles #1161 and a member of the American Legion, Bainbridge. He was an avid fisherman. He formerly worked as maintenance supervisor at Greene County Waste Water Facility in Spring Valley. He retired from the U.S. Navy. From 1957 to October 1976, he served on several submarines. He graduated from Kingman High School in 1957. Funeral services will be Thursday, 9 a.m., at the Reynolds-Smith Funeral Home, 327 N. South St., Wilmington. Rev. Timothy Hume and Bishop Larry Darrington will officiate. Burial will follow in the Clinton Memory Gardens. Friends may call Wednesday, 5-8 p.m., at the funeral home.
