The Dispatch, Columbus, OH, Sunday, 11 Mar 1951 LOCAL DEATHS Ray H. Suttles, 67 of 57 W. California Av, a real estate broker in Clintonville for 30 years, died Saturday in White Cross Hospital. He was a member of Neocacia Lodge, F&AM, Lorraine Chapter, OES, and North Broadway Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Lucille; and a daughter, Mrs. Howard E. Newsome, 71 W. Lakeview Av. A brother Harry C., died in January, and another brother, Edward W. Suttles, died in February. Friends may call at R. L. Southwick funeral home after 4 p.m. Sunday. Service will be there at 2 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Union Cemetery. James W. Connor (note: age of 21 was in the newspaper obit, not a typo here) James W. Connor, 2389 Adams Av, insurance agent for the State Automobile Insurance Co. 21 years, died Saturday at his home after illness of three days. He was a member of Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie No. 297, and Holy Name Catholic Church. Surviving are two sons, James D. and Daniel J; and two grandchildren. Friends may call at McNamara funeral home after 7:30pm. Sunday. Arrangements are incomplete. Charles A. Dunlap Charles A. Dunlap, 42 W. 8th Av, former operator of a bicycle and sporting goods shop at Fifth Av, and High St, died Saturday at White Cross Hospital where he was taken following a heart attack. He was a member of Plymouth Congregational Church. Surviving are his wife, Nellie; son, John; one grandchild; and a sister, Mrs. Jessie Brewer. Friends may call at P. E. Rutherford funeral home, where service will be at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. Robert D. McCarter Funeral for Robert D. McCarter, formerly of Columbus, who died Friday in New York City, will be Tuesday in New York City. Surviving are two sisters, Alice McCarter and Florence Macauley. Mrs. Pauline Penn Service for Mrs. Pauline Penn, 46, a lifelong resident of Columbus who died Friday at her home, will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Glenn L. Myers funeral home, 23 W. 2nd Av. Burial will be in Powell Cemetery. Surviving Mrs. Penn are her husband, John; sister, Mrs Dorothy OBrien, half brother, Carl A. Mahaney; stepdaughter, Mrs. Dorothy Hanby; and four nieces. Forest Gangwer Forest Gangwer, 54, of 64 Frebis Av; a veteran of World War I, died Saturday in Dayton Veterans Hospital after a long illness. A native of Indiana, he was a trucker before his illness. He was a member of Gates-Fourth Methodist Church. Surviving are his wife, Barbara; Miss Lois Gangwer of the residence; a son, Franklin; sister, Mrs. Ray Winters, and a brother, Floyd, both of Muskegon, Mich. Friends may call at O.R. Woodyard funeral home, 1346 S. High St. after 6 p.m. Sunday. Service will be there at 1:30pm. Tuesday. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery. Mrs. Hattie Poor Mrs. Hattie Poor, 88, a native of Jackson County, died Saturday at her home, 1212 E. Livingston Av. She was a member of Wilson Av Church of Chris. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Howard Jones. The Citizen, Columbus, OH, Thursday, 2 Feb 1905, pg. 8 FIGHT IN PENITENTIARY George Washington, a five-year Jackson county convict, and John Henry, a Hamilton county prisoner, indulged in a fistic exhibition at the penitentiary Thursday that cost each convict 15 days good time and reduction to the third grade. A dispute over work caused the fight. WIFE ILL AND FAMILY NEEDY Harry Alexander, the mayors stenographer, has taken up the case of Novel Cobb, the colored man sentenced to the workhouse by Judge Wildermuth Tuesday for taking coal from the railroad tracks to prevent his sick wife and three children from freezing. On the recommendation of Superintendent Eagleson of the Associated Charities the service board Thursday furnished Mrs. Cobb with a supply of coal and groceries. Mr. Alexander is preparing a petition to the board asking that Cobb be released from the workhouse. MINISTERS WIFE DEAD After a year's suffering with cancer, Mrs. Dunlap, wife of the Rev. Albert Dunlap, died Wednesday at 5:40 p.m. at her home, 144 West Fourth avenue. Mr. Dunlap was formerly pastor of the First Christian church in this city, but has lately been in charge of a church in Summerford. Mrs. Dunlap leaves besides her husband, four children. Chas. Dudley Dunlap, Mrs. Claude Brewer, Mrs. R. W. Lambard and Mrs. D. G. Lamb, all of this city. GLENN BECOMES DETECTIVE W. P. Glenn tendered his resignation Wednesday afternoon as secretary to Chief of Police OConnor and the safety board accepted it. He will be succeeded by Officer Thomas H. Guthrie, the drillmaster of the department. WEATHERINGTON - Albert, at Norfolk, Virginia, Wednesday, February 1, aged 49 years 11 months. Remains will be brought home to be buried at Valley Crossing.
