She was one of those rare spirits who always saw the bright light shining, and few ever suffered more cheerfully. During her long illness she was surrounded by loving friends and neighbors doing all in their power to make her last days the brightest of her life. She was a kind and affectionate wife and loving mother, always giving all around her good advice. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. C.F. Floto at the Mt. (Powell) Anderson departed this life March 14th, 1891, aged 72 years, 8 months and 25 days. The subject of this sketch was born in Belmont County, June 18, 1818. When but a small boy his parents moved to Noble County (probably Monroe then) and settled on the Rid Young farm near Sarahsville. In 1838 he was married to Mary P. (Mary Jane) Kellar. Soon after their marriage he commenced working at the shoe making trade, and while employed thus he devoted his spare time to the study of medicine, the practice of which he commenced in 1844, and continued it, more or less until his death. The writer assisted him in making out prescriptions while on his death-bed but a few days before he died. In 1861, he went to Iowa, but after living there a year, his health failed him, he returned to Ohio, and settled in Sarahsville, where he remained until his death. He leaves a wife and five sons (all of whom, except Samuel, live in the Western states), to mourn their loss. About nine years ago he was sticken with paralysis from which he never recovered. Father Anderson was a man that was well respected by all that knew him, and was useful in his days. He was a man that for truth and veracity, could hardly be excelled, and although he never belonged to any church, yet he never..(illegible) defending the right. A few hours before he died, he talked to his wife, asking her to forgive his misdoings towards her while he lay sick, saying that he knew he was a little harsh at times, but he was suffering so much pain. She told him that she knew his condition and could freely forgive him. We are taught in the Divine Writ to forgive, and we are inclined to believe that Father Anderson has gone to a fairer, better place than this, and that his soul is housed in the paradise of the most high." ------------------------------ X-Message: #4 Date: Sun, 27 Dec 1998 00:03:16 -0500 From: "S. Her death was very sudden and unexpected. When in the forepart of the winter she lay seriously sick with pneumonia and heart trouble, no one expected the aged lady to rally, the disease combined with old age seemingly making all recovery impossible. Contrary to the predictions of all, she rallied and once more regained her strength, until on Tuesday morning after a brief attack of her old trouble she fell peacefully asleep. Anna Catharine Zoellner was born May 1st, 1814, in Halsdorf, Hessia, Germany, where she was reared and educated, and where she lived most of her life. There she was married to Henry Zoellner and there all her children, ten in number, were born. In 1869, she and family emigrated for this country and settled in Hamilton, Ohio, two years later her husband died and left her to continue her pilgrimage alone. At Hamilton three of her children died. In 1880 she came to this city and lived with her daughter, Matilda Wagner, on South Chestnut Street. A little more than a year ago her daughter, Mary Kandel, died, whom she now joins in the world beyond the grave. Mrs. Zoellner was a very robust and strong person, physically, far above the average. She was during her whole life a constant and consistent member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and lived in Christian peace and harmony with all around her, doing many kind acts of Christian benevolence and mercy quietly and unostentatiously. For years she has been resignedly awaiting her end, and now at last she calmly passed over with sure hope of a glorious resurrection and a never-ending life of unalloyed happiness in her Savior's kingdom of glory. She attained the high old age of 85 years, 9 months and 12 days, and leaves six children; Valentine Zoellner, Mrs. John Coleman, Mrs. Horst and Mrs. Wagner, of this city; Mrs. George Yeachle, of Hamilton; also two step-sons, one at Hamilton, the other at Sandusky. She leaves also a sister in St. Paul Minn., 28 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. The funeral services take place on Friday as follows; 1:30 at the house, 2 at the church (sun time) and will be conducted by the pastor, F.W. Abicht. All friends are cordially invited to attend." ******************************************************** Children of Henry and Anna Catharine nee Buebenheim Zoellner Elizabeth, wife of Phillip Becker (Baker)---Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, OH Katherine, wife of George Yaekle---Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, OH Matilda, wife of Conrad Wagner---Buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville, OH John Henry, husband of Katherine Asman---Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, OH Valentine, husband of Elizabeth Heddrick---Buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville, OH Margaret, wife of John Adam Coleman---Buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville, OH Catherine, single---Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, OH Martha, wife of Leonhard Kandel---Buried in Oakdale Cemetery, Marysville, OH The two step-sons (sons of Henry and first wife, Elizabeth Theis) were: Henry J., husband of Caroline Held---Buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, OH Conrad, husband of Catherine Wagner---Buried in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, OH There was another daughter, Margaret Zoellner, wife of Conrad Horst, buried in the Oakdale Cemetery in Marysville.
