Each year during the week previous to February 22, Minor Evans advertises that his cherry pies will be sold for 15 cents on Washington's birthday, which is a reduction of 5 cents per pie. This is done for advertising purposes and not a dollar of profit is realized from the enormous amount of work required in baking this number of pies. The material required in the manufacture of 1,350 pies is amazing. Here are the figures: 140 gallons of canned cherries; 195 pounds of lard; three barrels of flour; one barrel of granulated sugar and 35 pounds of butter. submitted by; Gerry Evans Allen County, Ohio ------------------------------ X-Message: #3 Date: Mon, 22 Feb 1999 13:52:50 -0600 From: "bettie noel" Subject: Obit- Catherine Bolard OBIT - ASHTABULA STAR-BEACON saturday, January 2, 1937 MRS.
