STOVER, Jubel - Born Lawrence Co., Ohio October 11, 1817, son of Elijah and Mary (Scarberry) Stover. Elijah came here 1819 and died October 8, 1824. Mary died June 21, 1843. Jubel married here March 22, 1842 to Mary Doughty born Elizabeth, Pa. July 22, 1826, daughter of John and Phebe (Compton)_ Doughty, both born in Penna. John died 1853 and Phebe died 1836. October 1829, son of William and Eliza A. (Burris) Swain. Wm. died 1852 and Eliza died 1876. Othe married in Noble Co., Ohio January 3, 1851 to Emily Artis (or Artest) born Belmont co., Ohio May 15, 1834, daughter of Stephen and Mary E. (Walker) Artis. Stephen died 1837. Smith and Margaret Waugh were married in this county March 24, 1814. Wm was in War of 1812, to this county 1808. Mrs. Nancy Riley(?) of Greenup Co., Ind. was born 18 miles from Fort Duquesne, Wash. Co., Pa. February 20, 1778. Brice H. and Nancy had: George, Orlando, Viola, Wilson R., Margaret, Henry Mc., Mary, Andrew and William. STEVERS, John L. - Born here February 29, 1846, son of John C. and Elizabeth (Wethholt) Stevers who came here early. John C. born November 18, 1816 and died December 7, 1875. July 17, 1821, daughter of Charles and Martha (Arnot) Neal who came here in 1824. John and Sally had: Mary, James R., Sarah, Euphemia, John, Charles, Archibald, Grace and Joseph. STRAIT, William Alonzo - Born Lawrence Co., Ohio December 2, 1857, son of John Phelps and Rebecca (Lewis) Strait who came here 1858. He married 1879 to Alzina Herrington born July 2, 1861, daughter of Giles and Mary (Perkins) Herrington. SCOTT, James K. - Born Morrow Co., W.Va. January 7, 1809, son of Robert and Mary A. (Keeble) Scott. James married Clarissa A. Black born Lycoming Co., Pa. January 25, 1823, daughter of Thomas and Prucilla (Craft) Black, both deceased in Greenbrier, W.Va. 1841. October 23, 1837, son of Isaac and Mary (Rothgeb) Shaffer. David married here June 8, 1865 to Louisa Roush, born here September 6, 1839, daughter of Wm and Esther (Rothgeb) Roush. Wm. born here and Esther born Page Co., Va. and here with her parents in 1827. David and Louisa had Joseph, Vesta and David. SHARON, Lewis C. - Born Jefferson Co., Ohio November 22, 1823, son of Wm. and Susan (Kirk) Sharon, Wm. was born 1794 and died April 5, 1879. Susan born 1796 and died 1862. The grandfather of Lewis came to this county from England in the Mayflower and settled with his parents near Carlisle, Pa. During Rev. War he came to Wheeling with Zane to help support the Fort. Wm. Sharon came to Jefferson Co., Ohio with his parents in 1806. The grandfather of Lewis served 8 years with Washington during the Rev. War. His grandmother was Sarah Smiley and was given a present by Washington in 1782 at Carlisle, Pa. Wm Sharon served in the War of 1812. Lewis C. married in Meigs Co., Ohio October 5, 1858 to Philena Jones born Meigs Co., Ohio November 16, 1823, daughter of Philip and mary (Higley) Jones. Philip died 1870 and Mary died 1866. Lewis had brother Senator Sharon of Calif. Lewis and Philena had one child William A. born October 11, 1859. SHAFFER, Michael - Born Wythe Co., Va. October 16, 1803, son of Michael and Hannah (Miller) Shaffer and came with them to this county 1813. Michael Sr. born Shenandoah Co., Va. and died 1829. Hannah died January 26, 1850. Michael Jr. married here March 31, 1836 to Emily McCoy born Wythe Co., Va. March 5, 1818, daughter of Wm. and (Merredi) McCoy. Michael and Emily had: Hanna Maletha, Catherine A., Luke, Elizabeth M., Wm. Allen (lived Palo Alto, Ill.) Lewis Cass, Franklin Cass, Franklin P., Mary J., Martha A., Sarah E., David Ransom, Ellen, Anna B., and Michael.
