CRAWFORD 1840-1909 On each lot the wife's name immediately follows that of her husband. Though the wife's maiden name does not, in most cases show on the monument, this name where known, through research, has been added to the above list. This inventory made by Mrs. Gwynne Nixon, Mrs. Fred Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Hammond Crawford. James and Sarah Jones Crawford are buried in the 2nd row; no monuments, since he was born a Quaker. They gave the land for the cemetery. - ------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following ten monuments were moved in the fall of 1958 from the William Davidson farm in Springfield Twp., Jefferson Co., Ohio: Harry HAMMOND March. 31, 1782-Feb. 14, 1865 Mary Beall HAMMOND 1784-Jan. 26, 1860 in her 76 year William HAMMOND Dec. 7, 1819-May 17, 1830 Rebecca Hammond TAYLOR Sept. 20, 1814-Jan. 27, 1834 George HAMMOND Aug. 12, 1805-Feb. 12, 1855 Margaret McCullough HAMMOND 1812-June 8, 1839 Jane HAMMOND Feb. 6, 1834-Apr. 27, 1835 daughter of G. & M. Basil HAMMOND Jan. 18, 1848-Mar. 21, 1850 son of George and his 2nd wife Cilann Carter Hammond. Caroline MORRISON -March 4, 1831 2years Charles MORRISON 2years Above two children of Dr. John & Sallie Hammond Morrison. The above monuments were erected in Mt. Tabor Cemetery in the SW corner running parallel to the south fence and facing north. The balance of the stones at the William Davidson farm are, as far as known, still there. The stones of ancestors from the Davidson farm were removed because the stones were being destroyed by horses and cattle which had free access to the cemetery. The Davidson heirs to this property were not even worried about the graves of their ancestors buried there! The Wm. Davidson place is off Route 43 and the cemetery is on the highest point on the farm, fairly close to Rt. 43. This farm joined the Harry & mary Beall Hammond farm just outside of E. Springfield, Ohio, on Rt. 43. The remains were were not removed from the farm. ______________________________ ------------------------------ X-Message: #2 Date: Wed, 14 Jul 1999 21:46:41, -0500 From: AUPQ38A@prodigy.com (MRS GINA M REASONER) To: OH-FOOTSTEPS-L@rootsweb.com Message-Id: <199907150146.VAA13728@mime3.prodigy.com> Subject: FROM GUERNSEY CO.
