De Haven, were married at Kenton, Ohio, December. 19, 1896 (30 Dec. 1896, P8-C3) SLATER, Reazin - Reazin Slater, born in Guernsey County, Ohio, February 28, 1833, came to this county when three years old, died Friday. Lived here most of his life, except ten years in Colorado. A Civil War soldier. Five children survive: Aaron, Lydia, Mrs. Nora Downs, Mrs. Jane Light, and Wm., in Colorado. Burial Elizabethtown Cemetery. (25 Nov. 1896, P1-C3) SMITH, Mrs. Mildred M. - Mrs. Mildred M. Smith, who died at home of her niece, Mrs. Charles Schumacher, yesterday, was a county resident for years. Born in Fayette County, Ohio, in 1824. Married 59 years ago to James S. Smith, who died years ago. Fourteen children, six boys and eight girls. Mrs. Gil Townsend, Mrs. David McCoy, Joseph & Wm. Smith are living. (6 Apr. 1898, P1-C6) SPENCER, Thomas - Thomas Spencer, a hobo, was killed by a train Saturday morning one half mile west of Renner. Home may be near Newark, Ohio. Remains were buried in the city cemetery east of town on Sunday. (9 June 1897, P1-C4) STREIB, Daniel - Daniel Streib, well known here, was killed accidentally by his brother Benjamin Streib, age 16 years. Daniel is 29 years old and unmarried. This occurred in Crawford County, Ohio. Killed on Saturday. (7 July 1897, P1-C6) STROBIE, Mrs. Susanah - Mrs. Susanah H. Strobie, was born in Muskingum County, Ohio, April 7, 1815. She was the oldest child of Col. Wm. Hadden, who was probate judge of Blackford County for seven years. He came to Indiana in April 1838. Entered land four miles N.W. of town. She married John Strobie July 8, 1858. One child, Cassey, married Joseph W. Younts. (29 July 1896, P1-C4) SWAIN, John H. - Mr. Swain is now 90 years old. He left his home at Salem, N.C. about 1840, abandoning his wife, nine children and a farm. All trace lost. Found at Columbus, Ohio. Mrs. Nancy Richetts of this county, Mrs. Cynthia E. Crum, of Marion; Mrs. Sarah Jones, of Wells County, and Robert Swain of Jasper County, have located a long lost father. (23 Jan. 1895, P1-C3) TIMMONDS, Mrs. Catharine - Mrs. Catharine Timmonds, mother of C.U. Timmonds of this city, died August 21, 1893. Catharine Ann Boyer, born at Carlisle, Pa., 1812. Married Geo. W. Timmonds in 1830. He died 1869. Six children survive Mrs. Timmonds: James F.; W.W. of Portland, Indiana; Charles U. of Hartford City; Mrs. Benjamin Roebuck of Van Wert, Ohio; Mrs. Benjamin Linzee and Mrs. C.W. Williamson, of Wapakoneta, Ohio. Funeral on Wednesday, burial, Old Town Cemetery. (7 Sept. 1893, P4-C4) WELLS, Elder E.C. - A number of friends gathered at the Parker Hotel last night in honor of Elder E.C. Wells and family, who left this morning on the L.E. & W. for Edon, Williams County, Ohio, where they will make their home and where Elder Wells will become pastor of a prosperous church. (2 June 1897, P8-C1) WHITAKER, Obed - Obed Whitaker, Jackson Twp., died December 31, 1890, age 81y 11m 27d. Born in Guernsey County, Ohio. Married Miss Neel, native of Guernsey County, Ohio, Oct. 15, 1830. 1864 moved to Blackford County. Leaves a wife, three sons and one daughter. All living in this county. (8 Jan. 1891, P3-C4) WHITAKER, William - William Whitaker, born Oct. 26, 1834, died October 15, 1894. Age 59y 11m 19d. Born in Guernsey County, Ohio, lived there nine years. Moved in 1843 to Coshocton County, Ohio. Married Amanda Chance, October 22, 1857. Fall of 1864 came to Blackford County. Six children. Leaves four children, mother and sister and friends. (24 Oct. 1894, P8-C3) WILLMAN, Mrs. John B. - Mrs. Nancy Willman (Lindley), born in Piqua, Ohio, September 10, 1860. Married Philip Jinkins, January 1, 1882, who died three years later. Married John B. Willman, June 31, 1888, five children, three survive. She died Saturday, Age 37y 11m 20d. Leaves husband, three children, mother, two brothers and two sisters. (3 Aug. 1898, P1-C6) WILLMAN, Mrs. Peter - Mrs. Peter Willman died Wednesday, midnight. Born in Highland County, Ohio, and was about 76 years old. Moved to this county with grandfather Meller at an early age. Married Peter Willman 1842. Six children, four survive: Stephen, Peter, John and Frank. Funeral held Saturday. (10 Feb. 1897, P1-C5) WINGATE, Mrs. Hannah (Bales) - Hannah (Bales) Wingate, born in Greene County, Ohio, 47 years ago. Married Isaac W. Wingate in June 1862. Delaware County to Jay County to Blackford County in 1883. Had ten children, six survive: James H., Charles H., Mrs. Marion Cortright of Priam, Robert S., Isaac W., and Cora A. Husband, Ex-Sheriff. Moved from Priam to Hartford City October 24, 1893. (9 Nov. 1893, P8-C3) WORSTEL, Isaac H. - Isaac H. Worstel, who died yesterday morning was born in Brown County, Ohio, December 24, 1813. Moved from Ohio four years ago to a farm east of town. Married November 7, 1844 to Miss Cynthia Carnoll, who died Easter Sunday 1888. Eight children, two sons and two daughters survive. Remains taken to Aberdeen, Ohio. Oldest man in these parts. Once was an Ohio Steamboat Captain. (30 March 1898, P1-C2) WORTHEN, Joseph - Joseph Worthen, carpenter and housemover, died last Friday. The deceased was born in this city October 26, 1846. Father of three boys and two girls. His oldest son, Charles, is married and lives at Sidney, Ohio. (1 June 1893, P1-C3) WRIGHT, Frances P. - Frances P. Wright, born June 16, 1830, at Galion, Ohio, and died December 13, 1896, age 56y 5m 27d. Married John Moore, December 24, 1863. Had nine children, five boys and four girls, one preceded her in death. Funeral at Camden, Wednesday, December 16, 1896. (20 Jan. 1897, P4-C2) YOUNTS, Mrs. Mahala - Mrs. Mahal Younts died at noon Saturday. 82 years old, lived in city and county 25 years. Twelve children, two killed in war. Eight living in order of age are: W.H.; Samuel; John A.; Abraham; Mrs. John A. Miller, all of Eaton. Joseph Younts of this city; Daniel Younts, of Paulding County, Ohio, and Alice Mills of this city.
