But there was baptised in Bro. Oppelt's home the little son, Jacob, born Jan. 8 to Nathan and Anna Marie Colver. Wednesday, the sixteenth: We were glad to hea from Bro. Mortimer, who visited us at Beersheba. Tuesday, the ninteenth: I (Bro. Mueller) attended the burial in Goshen of the Indian brother, William Henry Killbuck, who blessedly fell asleep on the seventeenth. Sunday, the twenty fourth: At a second meeting the little daughter, Sibylla, born December 27, 1810, to John and Sally Colver, was baptised. Mar. Sunday, the tenth: Rev. Espich attended the first meeting. In a second meeting, tool place the reception into the copngregation of the older girl Elizabeth Tschudy. Monday, the eleventh, I visited Michael Uhrich and others. April Monday, lthe first: Was township election in Gnadenhutten. Friday, the fifth: We both visited at Nathanael Colvers. Monday, lthe fifteenth: Was Easter Monday. In the second meeting Peter Guenther's little son, born on January 20, was bptised. July There place the solemn confirmation of Bro. Gottfried Haga Aug. Sunday, the fourth: With a happy livefeast, and after prepartory speaking, 19 communicants enjoyed a very blessed Lord's Supper. Bro. Gottfried Haga partook for the first time as well as sister E;izabeth Rebstock. The older girl, Elizabeth Tschudym observed as a candidate. Tuesdaay, the twentieth and Wednesday the twenty forst: Bro. and Sr. Miller paid an extended visit in the German settlement. Bro. Mueller preached in the schoolhouse on the plains. On account of rain we stayed over night with Bro. Knaus, and returned Thursday, the twwenty second. Sept. Tuesday, the third: Nathanael and Mary Colver's daughter, who fell asleep on the first, was intered at ten o'clock in the forenoon in the Gnadenhutten God's Acres. The child, Elizabeth Colver, was born here August 7, 1808, and was baptised soon after. She fell aslp at the age of three years and twenty four days. The ninth: Bro. Mueller baptised at Martin Kellers's their son, Thomas who was born on the fopurteenth of August. Tuesday, the seventh: A remarkable solar eclipse was observed. It was at its height at fifty five minutes past one. The twenty first: we visited sister Oppelt who was very sickly, but she was getting better again. Sunday, the twenty second:, after the sermon, the older girl, Elizabeth Tschudy was confirmed. She had previously been instructed by Bro. Mortimer in Goshen. Sunday, the twenty ninth: Elizabeth Tschudy partook of the Lord's Supper for the first time. Nov The brethren John, Christian and Jacob Blickensderferwith Abraham Ricksecker from Lititz visited in this neighborhood from October first to October tenth, and made Mr. Kellers their stopping place. Christian Blickensderfer bought John Colver's land and they expect to move here together next year. Friday, the fourth: At eleven o'clock in the forenoon the child, Isaac Romig, who blessedly fell asleep on the second, was buried. Isaac Romig, little son of Abraham and Hanna Romig was born here Feb. 9, 1810 and fell asleep October 2, 1811, aged seven months, three weeks and two days. Sunday, the sixth: After the sermon, the baptism of Carolina Juliana, the little daughter born on September twenty eight to our brother and sister David and Susanna Peter. In the meeting following this and after an address, Gottfried and Maria Westoeffer were received into the congregation. The third: In the afternoon, lJacob Uhrich's little daughter, born October fourth, was baptised Anna Maria. Wednesday, the sixth: Brother and sister Corrells, with several of their children from Yorktown, arrived at New Philadelphia yesterday where they will presumably remain over winter. May 1812 Saturday, the twenty third:Bro. and Sr. Blickensderfer with their children, John and Christian, arrived here from Lititz, and Abraham Rickeckers with their cildren; also Lehns, Jacob and Benjamin Blickensderfer and Bro. and Sr. Mueller's daughter, Charlotte, arrived here safely from Bethlehem. Sunday the thirty first: The church in Gnadenhutten was much too small to hold the crowd in attendance. Martin Keller's Catherine, was received into the . congregation . We also sang verses of hymns in honor of Bro. and Sr. Blickensderfer June Sunday, the eleventh: In the second service, John Guenther (son of Christian) born on the twenty ninth of April, was baptised. Saturday, the twenty seventh: Sister Mary Colver, wife of Nathanael, received instruction for the Lord's Supper, as also the single sister, Verona Keller, who was instructed by Bro. Mortimer. The sisters, Mary Colver and Verona Keller were confirmed. July In the afternoon at two o'clock there was a lovefeast arranged by the Brethren and sisters of Gnadenhutten, for the entire congregation, to welcome the Blickensdoerfer brethren with their families. In order to obtain more rooms, a wagon cover was spread before the church and seats were erected under it but there was still not room enough. Thirty one communicants received the blessing of the Lord's Supper, which the sisters, Mary Colver and Verona Keller shared for the first time; the sisters Catharine Haga and Molly Guenther, who had been prepared for it before, were unable to come on account of illness; also the brethren Christain Guenther, and George Guenther and sister Roemelt observed as candidates. Sister Mortimer of Goshen was also in attendance. August Tuesday, the eleventh: the little son born July 16 to Bro. Matthew and sister Elizabeth Rebstock was baptised Immanuel in the home of his parents. Sept. Wednesday, the ninth: There was preaching in the schoolhouse on Uhrich's plain and from there I with my family went to Bro. Blickensderfers. Sunday, the twentieth: Sister Eva Guenther (PeteGuenther Juniors's wife) and Susanna Blickensderfer (George's wife) were received into the congregation. We again have quieter time now because people believe themselves more safe from threatened attack by hostile Indians than for a long time past. Oct. Sunday, the eighteenth: In the service for communicants, sister Catherine Haga and sister Polly Westhofer were admitted to the Holy Communion of the Church. Sunday, the twenty fifth: Thirty nine communicants observed a blessed Lord's Supper. Bro Martin Rebatock, and the sisters, Catharine Haga, Polly Westlefer and Catharine Keller (Martin's wife) participated for the first time and Bro. Frederick Dell observed as candidate. The thirty first: Bro. Mortimer informed us that Bro. Abraham Luckenbach has been called to be his successor in Goshen and that he expects to leave soon with his family for New York Nov. Sunday, the first:In the second service the baptism of Conrad, born October 27th to Eli Westhoefer, took place. Wednesday, the eighth:Preaching was held for the last time this year on Uhrich's plain. Sunday, the eighth: I (Bro Mueller) preached German and English in the Court house at New Philadelphia and baptised a child of Mr. Minnich at Mr. Knisely's house. Monday, the ninth: While on the road back, I baptissed DAvid, a child of Jacob and Regina Blickensderfer, born the ninth of October. Sunday, the fifteenth: There was held the harvest thanksgiving sermon. In the second service the thirteenth (of November, 1741) was celebrated and the unmarried Michael Gurnther (son of Christian) was received into the church. The sixteenth: Bro. and Sr. Mortimer, with their family, left Goshen for New York. Dec. Sunday the 13th: Sister Justine Dell received the blessing of confirmation. Sunday the twentyith: Thirty two communicants enjoyed the blessing of the Lord's supper which Bro. Frederic Dell and his Justine celebrated with us for the first time, and sister Susanna Blickwitnessed as a candidate. Nine children were born and baptised in the year 1812. Six persons were admitted to the Lord's Supper: Nathanael Colver, March 15, Mary Colver and Verone Keller, July 5; Michael and Catherine Roemelt and Molly Guenther (Christian's), August 30. Martin Rebstock, Catherine Haga, Polly Westhofer and Catherine Keller, October 25; Freiderich and Justine Dell, December 20. Total 18 persons. (Note. George Guenther was indeed confirme; but went to the frontier with the soldiers as a substitute and has not yet taken part in the Lord's Supper.) Arrived here from other localities, such as: from Lititz, Christian and Brbara Blickensderfers, withl their daughter, Elizabeth; John and Elizabeth Blickensderfer with a little son Frederick and Brother Peter Frederick; and two adopted children; Joseph and Nancy Blickensderfer; Christian and Sarah Blickensdoerfer and their little son, Abraham, and an adopted child, John Blickensdoerfer; Also, Abraham and Polly Ricksecker; Jacob and Regina Blickensdoerfer, and an adopted child, Susanna Blickensdoerfer; From Lancaster, Henry and Mary Lehn with two children, Heinrich and Benjamin, also from the Lititz neighborhood, Casper and Polly Werner with one child, Catherine. Also from Lititz the unmarried Benjamin Blickensdoerfer. Note. Werners belong to the Lutheran Church, Lehns have not yet received by the church again. Jacob BLickensdoerfer and Benjamin Blickensdoerfer, former Communicants have been excluded for lthe time. George Blickensdoerfer came the previous year, formerly a communicant, but has not yet been readmitted. Peter Frederick is not yet baptised, also does not yet belong to church. So the four adopted children of John Christian and Jacob BLickensdoerfers are not yet to be counted. Christian Blickensdoerfer has not yet been received but belongs to us. The Gnadenhutten congregation has been increased by eleven persons from Lititz, and by receptions into the congregation by six persons. So the actual increase of the congregation of Gnadenhutten is seventeen persons. Thirty four families at present belong to the Gnadenhutten congregation: namely, in Gnadenhutten itsseld, the brethren and sisters: Oppelts, Peters, Tschudys, Dells. On this side, REstocks. Below the hill to the North of Gnadenhutten, Peter Guenther, Junior, and John Knaus's. East of Gnadenhutten, Peter Guenthers, Senior, John Blickensdoerfers, Christian Guenthers, Nathanael Colvers, George Schemels, Christian Blickensdoerfers, Abraham Romigs, Michael Roemelts, John Romigs,Christian Demuths, Josiah Schemels, Gottfried Hagas, Jacob Uhrichs, Michael Uhrichs' On the West side of the Muskingham, toward Goshen; John Demuth, John Uhrich, Ludwig Knaus, Abraham Ricksecker, C.
