We also visited the aged mother Keller, and on the 24th Brother Rauschenberger was again called to John Blickensderfer's wife. May 1824 The fourth: The combined single sisters celebrated a blessed choir festival in Gnadenhutten. At the close of the choir address, the following girls were received into the choir: Lydia Wuensch, Elizabeth Remelt, Maria Simmers, Anna Sarah Knaus and Sarah Elisabeth Wuensch. The sixth: The little son of Brother and sister Samauel Frey was baptised, with the name Daniel. The thirteenth: There occurred in Sharon the burial of the widowed sister Eva Keller who fell asleep yesterday. The eighteenth: There occurred in Gnadenhutten the burial of the child Matthias Ferguson, little son of Richadrdand Rachel Ferguson, he was born January 26 of this year and departed May 17, age 3 months and 3 weeks. Sunday, the twenty third: The little daughter of John and Christiana Noll was baptised, with the name Salome. The twenty fourth: As sister Fuchs could not recover properly in her situation, today we took her with us for a few days for better care. The twenty sixth: Brother Rauschenberger was taken to the sick Rob. Casey. She had an attack of blood vomiting. The twenty seventh: At 3 o'clock in the afternoon there took place in Beersheba the burial of the child Kensey Carr, son of our neighbors, James and Eleanore Carr, aged 6 years, 5 months and 9 days. He was born December 17, 1817 and died on the 26th of this month of a cold contracted after having withstood an attack of the measles. June 1824 The fourth: The older girls from the 3 places observed a blessed choir festival. In the festival address, the following girls were received into the choir: Carol J. Peter, Let. Fuchs, Sib.Mary Shemel, Elizabeth Haga, Mary An. Fenner, Louisa Ch. Knaus, Catherine Romig, Lucinda Walton and Martha M. Summers. Sunday, the sixth: the following persons were received into the followship: Joseph Schemel and his wife Anna, the married Ane. Maria Uhrich, and Sarah Catherine Schemel. In the afternoon Brother Rauschenberger went to Werner's Valley and conducted the service there. Then an Illegitimate child, Benjamin Blickensderfer was baptisin a private home. September 1824 The fourth: In Beersheba, at ten o'clock in the forenoon occurred the burial of the married sister Adah Guenther, who fell asleep in the 2nd. At 12 o'clock the burial of the deceased Joseph Herman took place in Gnadenhutten. The ninth: The burial of the little llboy, Dniel Uhrich aged 3 years and 9 months, took place in Gnadenhutten. He was a son of Michael and Maria Uhrich on the Stillwater. In the afternoon, the newborn son of Samuel Dives was baptised with the name John Oliver. The thirteenth: Brother Rauschenberger went to Beersheba to visit the sick married Catherine Taylor again, but found her already a corpse. The fourteenth: Her remains were interred in the cemetery at Beersheba. Sunday, the ninteenth: A little daughter of the widowed Brother Daniel Guenther and his deceased wife Adah, was baptised with the name Sarah Elisabeth. The twenty first: The deceased single Eva Korbman was buried in Sharon. The twenty third: In Gnadenhutten there took place the burial of the married Abel Penn, who died on the 21st. Sunday, the twenty sixth: Toward evening occurred the burial of the little girl Rosina Blickensdefer. She was born March 14, 1820, and fell asleep during the past night after long and severe suffering from scurvy, her age being 4 years 6 months and 2 days. November 1824 The tenth: There took place in Beersheba the burial of the deceased child, Sarah Elisabeth Ginther, daughter of the married Brother Daniel Ginther and his deceased wife Adah. She was born August 22 of this year and fell asleep at the age of 2 months and 10 days. The fifteenth: The married sister, Sophia Andreas, who fell asleep yesterday, was interred in Gnadenhutten. The eighteenth: The single Brother John Tschudy of Gnadenhutten, who has ben seriously sick for a week, again seems to be somewhat better. Sunday, the twenty first: Church Council of all three places was assembled afterward for the election of a Board. The following brethren were chosen; for Gnadenhutten, Christian Blickensderfer and Michael Remelt; for Sharon, Jacob Blickensderfer and John Knaus; for Beersheba; Boaz Walton, as Agent of the Society; Brother David Peter. Sunday, the twenty eighth: The little daughter of James and M.Dor. Meyer was baptised with the name Hariet. The thirtieth: The dear Brother Joh. Tschudy, in Gnadenhutten, is improving. December 1824 The First: Brother Jac. Blickensderfer traveled to Columbus for the sitting of the governing body. Sunday, the fifth: At Three o'clock occurred the burial of the boy, Abraham Cherryholmes, who died yesterday. Abraham Cherryholmes, whose parents died in his early youth, was born August 14, 1808. As he was lacking in necessary mental faculties, Brother and Sister Christian Guenther cared for him until his end with parental faithfulness. His age was 16 years and almost 4 months. A little son of Charles and Sybilla Oppelt was baptised with the name Theodore Sylvestor. The seventeenth: There occurred in Gnadenhutten the burial of the little boy, William Andreas, aged 8 weeks, who died in the previousl night. He was the little son of Brother Joh. Andreas and his deceased wife Sophia. Sunday, the ninteenth: Brother Rauschenberger went, on request, to the young Benjamin Lehn, who is seriously sick. Since it was too late to return home, he stayed overnight with Brother and Sister John Blickensderfer. The twentieth: The boy J. Jacob Guenther fell asleep at five o'clock in the morning after long and painful suffering. The twenty first: In Sharon occurred the burial of the above mentioned boy. A large number of people were present for the funeral sermon. February 1825 Sunday, the sixth: The following young brethren and sisters were present as confirmands: The single brethren, Jacob Keller, Samuel Knaus, Felix Fenner, Adam Dell and Matthias Schaffner; older boys; Joseph Demuth, Gustoph Fuchs, Theodore Fuchs, Martin Keiser, Jonathan Romig, Aaron Dell. Charles Peter; the single sisters; Catherine Werner, Lydia Wuensch, Elisabeth Remelt, Elisabeth Wuensch, Maria Simmers, Sarah Davis; older girls; Emilie Fenner, Susan Haga. In the evening there occurred the marriage of the widowed Brother Boaz Walton, with the single Rosianna O'Donnall. Sunday, the thirteenth: Two children were baptised, namely a little son of John and Rebecca Everett, with the name John, and a little son of Jacob and Lavinah Reges, with the name David. The seventeenth: The marriage of the single Brother Johannes Tschudy with the single sister Elisabeth Werner took place in the forenoon in the house of Ch. Blickensderfer and in the afternoon there occurred in Gnadenhutten the matrimonial alliance of the widowed Brother Johannes Andreas with the widowed sister Catherine Haga. Sunday, the twentieth: Church council was held fater the service, in which the following brethren were named as school trustees; Benjamin Herbach, John Blickensderfer and John Demuth. The twenty seventh: The little son of Benjamin and Rebecca Casey was baptised into the death of Jesus with the name Cornelius, In the afternoon a pair of twins of Jacob and Mary Cherryholmes were baptised in the house, because the mother did not arrived until after the church service had already started: a little son with the name Johannes Daniel, and a little daughter with the name Anna Marie. March 1825 The twelfth: The burial of the married George Korbman was held in Sharon. The deceased George Korbman was born December 19, 1801, in Manchester Townshep, York County, Pennsylvania. In the year 1812 he came into this neighborhood with his parents, the deceased John and his widow, Maria Korbman. July 6, 1824 he married the single Catherine Grimm. Through a bad cold, he contracted consumption. On the 11th of this month, at three o'clock inl the morning; he fell asleep, his age being 23 years. The thirteenth: A little son of George and Sus. Meyer was baptised with the name Levi Washington. The twenty: The marriage of the single Daniel Frey to the single Salome Rank took place below Beersheba. Sunday, the twentieth: Instead of the sermon there took place the solemn rite of conformation of the following: The single brethren, Jacob Keller, Samuel Knaus, Felix Fenner, Adam Dell, Matthias Schaffner; boys, Joseph Demuth, Gustoph Fuchs, Theodore Fuchs. Martin Keiser, Jonathan Romig, Aaron Dell, Charles Peter; single sisters; Catherine Werner, Lydia Wuensch, Elizabeth Remelt, Elisabeth Wuensch, Maria Simmers,Sarah Davis; older girls, Emilie Fenner, and Susanna Haga. April 1825 The first: At three o'clock in the afternoon occurred the burial in Beersheba of the married Connel O'Donnell, who died a violent death. Some days ago he was traveling down the Muskingum with a raft of boards, in company with anther man by the name of Schitz. Possible eighteen miles from here in a house where he was putting up, he met a man by the name of Jones who had long been hostile to him. All of a sudden he struck him down, tramped on his body with his feet and before he was torn away from the murderous hands, he abused him so badly that in less than 24 hours, be breathed his last. After a legal investigation of the body had been conducted by the coroner, it was brought into the house of Brother Boaz Walton yesterday, and the murderer was placed in the prison at Coshocton. Close to 400 people attended the funeral. Sunday, the third: The solemn rite of baptism of two adult persons occurred, namely the single Susanna Anna Friederich, and the older girl, Maria Catherine Blickensderfer. The twelfth: In Gnadenhutten there occurred the burial of the little son, born to Jacob and An. Mar. Uhrich on the 9th, who fell asleep on the 11th. And soon afterward a little son, named John of the deceased Connell O' Donnell and his widow Elisabeth, who fell asleep on the 11th, was buried at Beersheba. His age was 3 years and 9 months. Sunday, the seventeenth: We had such heavy night frosts this week that all the fruit, which was already in bloom, was frozen. May 1825 Sunday, the twelfth: The little daughter of Brother and Sister Abraham Blickensderfer was baptised with the name of Dorothea Elisabeth. The little daughter of Brother and Sister Lydia O"Donnell was baptised with the name Rosanna Lucinda. The following young people were present as condidates: Jacob Romig, Heinrich Romig, Fried. Blickensderfer, Jacob Uhruch, Michael Uhrich, Benjamin Walton, Ales. Hamilton, Susanna Friederick, Catherine Blickensderfer and Lydia Keller. The eighteenth: We had aa secere storm, which however, did no damage here. In other parts of the state houses and barns were torn down and much damage was done to the forrests. The twenty sixth: The marriage of the widowed Brother Gabriel Romig to the single sister Verone Balzly took place in Goshen Township. Sunday, the twenty ninth: The single Brother Daniel Demuth was married to the single sisteer Maria Simmers. June 1825 Sunday, lthe twelfth: 39 older girls celebrate their festival in Gnadenhutten with the customary meeting. The thirteenth: Brother and Sister Guenther began the journey to Lebanon. The sixteenth: The marriage of the single Joseph Walton to the single Anna Sarah Knaus took place in Sharon. During those two weeks we took care of our garden. Sunday, the ninteenth: There was much rainy weather this week, for which reason the people were much behind with their hay-making. The twenty third: The wedding of the single William Williams to the single Juliane Stocker took place below Beersheba. June 1825 The twenty ninth: There occurred in Sharon the burial of the single Daniel Rupert. Daniel Rupert was born June 8, 1804 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania. In the year, 1808 he came into this neighborhood with his parents, Bernhart and Verone Rupert. He was confirmed to communicant membership of the Lutheran clhurch on June 6, 1824. Since September of last year he suffered from consumption, which became the cause of his departure. He died on the 28th of this month, at 4 o'clock in the morning, his age 21 years land 20 days. The thirtieth: At 2 o'clock in the afternoon, at Beersheba, occurred the wedding of the widower John Tailor to the single sister maria Barbara Ginther. At 4 o'clock in the afternoon, at Gnadenhutten, occurred the burial of the child, Joseph Niegerman, who fell asleep yesterday after long suffering. The little boy, Joseph Niegerman, a son of Brother and Sister John Niegerman, was born July 10, 1824. He suffered from a cancerous sore on his face for half a year. He fell asleep at the age of 11 months an 19 days. July 1825 Sunday, the seventeenth: The communicants had a blessed celebration of the body and blood of Jesus in the Lord's Supper, at which the single sister,Susanna Amelia Friederick and the older girl, Maria Catherine Blickensderfer were first tiem participants. The twenty eighth: There took place in Gnadenhutten the marriage of the Widower, Robert Caples to the single Anna Davis, both from Stillwater. August 1825 The second: There occurred the wedding of the single Conrad Bremer to the single Catherine Stocker below Beersheba; the wedding of the single Joseph Knaus to the single sister Martha Walton. Sunday, the seventh: Three children were baptised; a little son of Henry and Elisabeth Everett with the name Sylvester Thomas; a little daughter of Christian and Elisabeth Rothe with the name Anna Rosina; a little daughter of Joseph and Catherine Sturgius, junior, with the name Catherine. Sunday, the fourteenth: Brother Rauschenberger already felt very feverish today. The fifteenth: The fever, which was a nervous fever at first, attacked with such violence that he had to keep his bed and stay in the room for several weeks. The twenty third: The widowed sister Catherine Tschudy, who fell asleep in Gnadenhutten at midnight on the 21st, was buried in silence since Brother Rauschenberger lay sisck with high fever at the time. The dear Brother Ernst Ronatus Fuchs came here from Bethlehem to stay. September 1825 The married Peter Friederick died and was buried in Sharon. The funeral sermon was delivered by a Dunker preacher, by the name of Herman. Brother Rauschenberger was recovered in so far, with God's help, that he has been able to go about some during the last weeks of the month. But the weakness did not permit him to do his work. The twenty third: The single Brother John Adam Leibert from Lancaster, Pennsylvaanis,lcame here to stay. He would like to take over the care of the school in this congregation.
